Indian surgeons coped with the difficult task with honor: they successfully removed from the chest of a 7-year-old boy his underdeveloped Siamese twin brother. A rare congenital anomaly greatly interfered with the normal development of a first grader - in addition to physical "inconvenience", the child began to develop neurosis from the obsessive attention of strangers, some of whom considered him … an earthly embodiment of the god Vishnu. Now pilgrims will no longer disturb Diipak Pasvan, who began a new life - the life of a normal person.
7-year-old Diipak Paswan grew up as a very intelligent boy, but he was deprived of the joys of many children's games and could only sleep on his back - the child was born with a rare congenital deformity: a twin brother grew from his chest and stomach. Doctors call these "co-twins" parasitic. This is a rare type of splicing of Siamese twins: a small, underdeveloped twin is attached to and depends on a healthier twin.
Diipak's brother Pasvan did not have a head and neck, but had half a torso, two arms and two legs. Thus, Diipak Paswan had four arms and four legs, which caused a pilgrimage to him of worshipers of Hinduism, the most widespread religion in India, one of the supreme deities of which is Vishnu, who, according to beliefs, had just four arms.
“During all these 7 years my wife and I dreamed of only one thing: that our son would grow up as soon as possible and be physically ready for the operation. We wanted to end his physical and mental suffering - people constantly came to us to take a look at our child. Now, back home in our village, we will celebrate Diipak's healing,”says his father, Viresh Paswan.
The operation was performed for almost a day by 15 surgeons from the Fortis Hospital in Bangalore (Fortis Hospital in Bangalore). They fulfilled their task brilliantly - now only the scar on the boy's chest will remind him of the difficult years spent with his "brother".
“With Diipak everything will be all right now. He came to us with nervous exhaustion because of the unnecessary attention that others paid to him, but it will quickly pass,”says the chief surgeon of the clinic, Ramcharan Thiagrajan.
