He just lay 50 meters from the local beach.

The other day in the Vyaznikovsky History and Art Museum, traditional local local history readings took place. Usually this event takes place in the format of an exchange of reports. Local historians talk about something interesting for them. But this time we can say that the readings aroused the interest of everyone. And the fact is that during one of the lectures, a unique find was shared with the audience - a mammoth tusk, found this year on the banks of the Klyazma River!

A member of the Russian Geographical Society, Yuri Kozlov, found him near the village of Perovo. In August, he walked along the banks of the Klyazma River and literally came across the bone of an ancient animal.

- My grandchildren have already left. I walked alone along the river bank, - Yuri Kozlov told the local newspaper Mayak. - And then I drew attention to an unusual object - from a distance it seemed that it was a large branch. However, an inner voice suggested: this is not so. And indeed. In front of me is a heavy thing, not a single wet oak trunk can weigh so much. It became clear that this is a large bone. I pulled the find out of the sand and brought it home.

As a result, the locals were happy to take pictures with the find. At the same time, it turned out that people had seen it before, but no one thought it was a mammoth tusk, and therefore did not touch it. But he lay in the most crowded place - literally 50 meters from the beach, chosen by residents and fishermen.

The ivory weighs about 16 kilograms. Length - 155 centimeters. The section diameter is about 8 centimeters. Apparently, the tusk belonged to an individual six years old - this can be determined by the number of layers.

Yuri Kozlov tried to understand where the bone of an ancient animal came from here. And I came to the conclusion that the river is constantly undermining the place where the village of Perovo is located, washing out the artifacts of the past from the depths of the soil. And not far from the village there is a section of dunes with a pine forest - about a kilometer by a kilometer.

- It is ideal for hunters of the Paleolithic era, - says the local historian. - In the process of communicating with local residents, it became clear: this is not the only such find. When farms were being built in the Perov and Oltushev areas in the early 1980s, a tusk was also found there. And I also know that one of the residents of Nizhny Novgorod, who bought a house in our area, found a skull on the banks of the Klyazma. Apparently, a large mammal.

By the way, the director of the Vyaznikovsky History and Art Museum, Lilia Kovaleva, has already become interested in the finds and said that perhaps next year the museum will be able to accept all such exhibits. But for this you need to win a grant to create a special exposition.
