Scientists from the UK sent an audiobook into space. According to experts, the signal broadcasting the work called "The River of Pain" was transmitted at a distance of up to 40 light-years from Earth.

Experts said that the goal of this project is an exoplanet in the constellation of Cancer called 55 Cancri. It is located about 40 light years from Earth. The signal should reach its destination in about 60 years. The researchers note that this celestial body has certain similarities with the Earth.

“The response to the signal in the case of the existence of alien forms of intelligent life can reach the Earth within a hundred years. We hope that we have correctly coded it, so that it will reach the addressee,”- said scientists from the Royal Observatory.

Tom Kerss of the Royal Observatory said the project had been in development for five years. If successful, earthlings will receive confirmation of the existence of alien life forms in space, which is considered one of the most important mysteries in science.
