Usually such places are not very large in size. Walk around the perimeter … well, in an hour. But with Rishat, give up this hope. Fifty kilometers is the size of this structure! And this is only the most round "eye". Iris, so to speak. Throw a couple of hundred kilometers over the edges going out to the sides. In general, in the Moscow region, for example, it will fit from edge to edge. And even in places it will get out of it.

Such a hefty structure is visible from orbit and is believed to be first discovered from space. The Bedouins, who have been driving caravans along this structure for thousands of years, of course, no one takes into account. Bedouins - because it is located in Bedouinia … mmm … in Mauritania. It is below Morocco, in western Africa, and in the west of the Great Sahara Desert. Therefore, it is also called the "Eye of the Desert".

And people far from the desert call it “The Eye of the Earth”. Due to its gigantic size and visibility from orbit, astronauts used this structure as a visual reference. In fact, it is wrong to think that our planet looks like a "small ball" from orbit. The height of the orbits is about a hundred kilometers, at such an altitude over the Great Sahara Desert you can fly for a long time. And how to navigate there, not by the same monotonous dunes? And here's a beacon for you: the 50-200 kilometer Eye of the Earth. Everything is simple and straightforward. The Atlantic Ocean will begin soon.

By the way, on the one hand, it is interesting to look or guess where our planet has a second eye? Judging by its orientation, it is necessary to look for the northeast. On the other hand, she may have only one. Or three. Or as much as you like. Who knows how many eyes the planets have. But this is so, thoughts aside.

Rishat structure (Galb Er-Rishat). Giant rings, with a total height difference of up to hundreds of meters, exactly nested into each other. This is a "geological formation", that is, it was, as it were, created by nature half a billion (!) Years ago. Although looking at him - it's hard to believe in this. What exactly created such a unique structure - taking into account the local population - Allah knows it!

Now the emergence of such a stepped structure is very cleverly explained. Say, geological processes raised it - and the wind leveled it. Then the geoprocesses lowered it, raised it again - and the wind leveled it. Then again..

I will express this hypothesis in the words of Pratchetov's Feegles:

Hypothesis: Impact crater

For example, some special meteorite bounced and created such an unusual crater. However, experts on explosions say that the flat bottom of the structure and the absence of characteristic formations (I forgot what they are called, such glass rods) refute this hypothesis.

Maybe these are the remains of some kind of supervolcano?

Volcanologists immediately said that this is never a volcano, there is even nothing to discuss. Although for 500 million, in my opinion, anything could flatten out and sink into the soil and overgrow.

Funnel from a nuclear explosion

This is what I don't like about this version. A cannon blast is the most powerful weapon we know NOW. A hundred years ago, this version would have been a "super gun funnel". In a hundred years, there will be a version of "collapsing explosion"? This is a "fashionable" hypothesis, and therefore - probably wrong.

Other hypotheses? Yes, whatever. What happened on our planet half a billion years ago? What could have happened to the traces of these events over 500,000,000 years? Anything.
