Illness can make life quite difficult, but a really strong-minded person may well resist difficulties and even maintain a relatively optimistic attitude and desire to lead a 'normal' lifestyle. Jordia Rankin is 15 years old, but she is similar in height to a baby; the congenital disease does not prevent the girl from leading a normal life as a British teenager.
At 15, Georgia Rankin stands out from her peers for her height. The girl's uniqueness, however, is not at all that she has grown to two meters - on the contrary, Georgia's height at the moment is only 2 feet and 8 inches, which is slightly more than 81 centimeters. It is believed that adolescents are quite harsh about any kind of anomalies, and, in theory, such an unusual girl would have to suffer greatly from other people's witticisms and bullying.
Rankin, however, demonstrates a strength of spirit clearly not comparable to a relatively small stature. Georgia, in spite of everything, continues to lead a completely normal lifestyle for her age; the girl enjoys spending time on the beach and communicates with friends. Rankin even managed to attend the high school prom and even break into the audience hall of the popular show 'X Factor' - and this is only 15 years old! It is difficult to say what Georgia will be able to achieve in the future, but her makings are clearly impressive.
Georgia Rankin was born with a rare form of skeletal dysplasia. Because of the disease, Rankin's bones fused into a single whole when the girl was just an infant; Georgia's growth has practically stopped there. The surrounding people quickly suspected something was wrong - the girl could hardly move and was clearly inferior in height to other babies. Doctors gave Rankin's parents a rather bleak prognosis - in their opinion, the girl should have died at the age of 13-15. Andrea, 21, and Simon, 23, took the dire news hard; reality, however, for once decided to play on the side of people.
However, more than 10 years have passed since this verdict was passed, and Georgia is not only alive and relatively healthy, but also incredibly cheerful and practically does not allow her illness to somehow complicate her life.
In an interview with reporters, Georgia said a thing that at first glance is absolutely incredible - she does not at all feel small and different from others. Rankin has always looked at the world from a somewhat unusual angle - and, as a result, has developed a rather non-standard point of view; at the moment, Georgia does not know any other way to perceive the world and does not feel deprived at all.
Rankin's parents did not stop fighting their daughter's illness; alas, the family cannot boast of any particular success in this field. The problem lies in the fact that no one really understood what exactly caused the skeletal dysplasia and bone problems in the girl. Georgia managed to visit a number of specialists around the world and send several dozen X-rays to different doctors; alas, so far the girl cannot even count on an accurate diagnosis.

From time to time Rankin has to return to the hospital - for example, in October, the girl spent 5 hours on the operating table while doctors sawed off the jagged ends of her thigh bones. With the rounded ends of the bones, Georgia will be able to move more easily, and the pain that constantly accompanies her through life should ease somewhat; however, Rankin is still far from solving the problem as a whole.
Georgia is well aware that her illness deserves close attention - for a long time she had to take shock doses of morphine and ketamine in order to reduce pain to at least a tolerable level. After the operation, 2 weeks were spent on recovery, and about 6 more weeks - for physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. And the main miracle is that Georgia not only overcomes all adversity, but also manages to ultimately remain a completely ordinary teenager.
