The legends of many cultures tell of unknown white gods who came from across the seas and literally created civilizations overnight. In 1929, an inventory of old scrolls and books was carried out in the huge library of Istanbul's Topkari Palace. Among the rarities, an old nautical chart that belonged to Admiral Piri Reis, who lived two centuries earlier, was found and was included in the catalog published a couple of years later.
In the late 1950s, historians became interested in the old map, especially after the publication of Charles Hapgood. The researcher was the first to notice that the map drawn no later than 1513 depicts the coastline of South America too accurately. Everything corresponds to reality and at first glance there is nothing supernatural in this. But this is not so, since the existence of Antarctica was confirmed only at the beginning of the 19th century, when Russian sailors under the command of captains Lazarev and Bellingshausen discovered the continent and landed on its shores.
On the map of Admiral Reis (full name - Haji Muhiddin Piri ibn Haji Mehmed), the coastline of Antarctica is very close to that obtained as a result of modern research. It even marked multiple riverbeds and streams, hidden today by kilometers of ice. But ice covers Antarctica, as we know from recent studies for 7 millennia! Hapgood gave the phenomenon the most reasonable, in his opinion, explanation. He claimed that the cartographer who produced the map commissioned by Admiral Reis had copied all the information from an older source to the last point. This is possible because Constantinople, later renamed Istanbul, was the intellectual center of the ancient and then the medieval world.
It was in the libraries of Constantinople that unique scrolls, manuscripts and incunabulas from the farthest reaches of the Roman Empire were kept. It also collected written evidence from the lands seized by the Romans, primarily from much more ancient than Rome itself - Egypt, Phenicia, Assyria, Carthage.
Cards in those days had the same, if not more value than books. They were cherished and copied with great care from century to century.
At first glance, C. Hapgood's explanations are logical and convincing, although they open up an amazing view of history. Indeed, according to this conviction, there were brave travelers who, 7 millennia ago, made long voyages and, with amazing accuracy, marked open territories on the maps. But maybe this is the legacy of the white gods from mythology?
The oldest known travelers are the Phoenicians. However, this culture appeared only 3 millennia ago, so the origin of the old map finds a rational explanation in the fact that these are records of a civilization unknown to us.
Abode of the white gods
The most likely location for the first civilization is Antarctica. It was here that the first culture on Earth flourished 15 thousand years ago. At the same time, across the ocean, savagery and barbarism reigned throughout the rest of the planet.
But once the planet's climate began to change, and 7 millennia ago, Antarctica finally turns into an icy desert. The surviving population migrates to other continents, bringing with them knowledge and wisdom unseen by primitive tribes. Later, these cultures will become the descendants of the white gods and form the mythology we know.
Reasonable species have existed on the planet for at least 100 millennia, and only the last ten thousand years can one observe the rapid, downright exponential growth of civilization.
