Recently, it is generally accepted that men need a deep voice in order to attract the attention of the opposite sex. However, in the course of the study, a group of scientists came to the conclusion that this feature previously had slightly different advantages.
The foreign scientific and information publication Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences published an article on its pages explaining what the true advantage of a low voice in men is, or how it was used in the past. Today it is generally accepted that a deep male voice works to attract the attention of the opposite sex. However, it turned out that such a voice, on the contrary, should scare away other males.
Experts came to this conclusion following a long-term analysis, during which they analyzed more than 1.5 thousand recordings with the voices of humans, great apes and monkeys. Thus, the experts realized that primates in a low voice scared away other males from their females, of which there were sometimes several. As part of the second experiment, experts recorded the voices of men and women, and then let them listen to representatives of the opposite sex. A low voice in women did not attract increased attention, when a low male voice was rated by women as sexy, and by men as domineering.
