Ancient Rome was famous for its freedom in relations between men and women. Just what is the mythology of Ancient Rome and Greece, which is replete with details of the piquant adventures of the gods. Unsurprisingly, the cities were full of entertainment houses, which, however, were secret.
Of course, centuries have erased the mention of what happened in the cities of Ancient Rome. However, nature left a unique example of real life for the Romans in the city of Pompeii, which was destroyed by a volcanic eruption. The researchers who excavated the city have discovered not only the ruins of the once developed city, but also some piquant details of its everyday life. in this city with a population of 20 thousand, there were more than 30 rooms for carnal pleasures. One of them was a two-story building with ten rooms, which were fully used for this purpose.
Despite the abundance of such premises, they tried not to advertise the secret life of the Romans. Usually the rooms were located on the second floors above the wine shops, and the way to them could be found by signs on the street - in the form of a male reproductive organ. But even so, clients of such establishments tried to be incognito, wearing special pointed hoods that hid their faces. Most often, this was done by noble visitors who had families and did not want to advertise their identity.
Why Lupanarius? This word comes from the Latin term lupa, which translates as she-wolf. Above all the working girls, there was a main magnifying glass that accepted money. Ksati, girls were required to wear a distinctive sign - a red belt, which was tied at the back.
