Footage of the dramatic resurrection of frozen fish has appeared on the Web.

The biggest miracle of 2018 has happened: the fish came to life after being thawed in warm water.

The video, filmed in Japan, begins with a fish plunging into an ice bath. As seen on the thermometer, the water temperature is -2 degrees. The fish is more like a stone because it holds its shape firmly as it passes from hand to hand.

A few seconds later, the fish is immersed in a small bucket of warm water, in which everything begins to reincarnate, as if by magic. One man tries to flip the fish by grasping its (still frozen) tail, but it suddenly starts splashing in the bucket.

The fish begins to swim with ease in the water, stunning onlookers. The video has already been viewed over 50,000 times since it was uploaded to the Pro Fishing Videos Facebook page on Wednesday 28 November.

Some, however, claim that the video is fake.

Fish living in cold water contain "antifreeze proteins" in their bodies, according to a study by Queen's University in Canada, which allows them to survive in the harshest conditions. And back in 2016, Japanese researchers managed to revive fish that had been frozen for 30 years.

In fact, this freezing method is often used in Japan as a way to preserve fish fresh before cooking.
