In 1976, the US Defense Intelligence Agency submitted the same document to the US Secretary General, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the National Security Agency. The details of the incident that took place in the sky of Iran on the night of September 18-19 were presented on four pages. In the history of ufology, it is known as the "Tehran incident".
Night call to the commander
At 0:30 am, the commander of the Tehran District Air Force, General Yessefi, raised the phone call of the command post on duty from his bed: "General, an unknown flying object was recorded in the sky above the capital" - "What does unknown mean?" - “Our combat aircraft are not in the sky, Mehrabad International Airport denies the presence of any civilian aircraft in the sky” - “Is there a mistake?” - "I observe it visually" - "Raise the interceptors."
At 01:30, an F-4 Phantom took off from the Shahrokhi Air Force Base, 110 miles east of Tehran, driven by Captain Mohammad Reza Azizkhani. The pilot headed for the capital. The rendezvous took place 64km north of Tehran.
Rendezvous
"Captain, can you see him?" - "It glows so that it is impossible not to notice it" - "How long before it?" - “70 miles. I'm going to get closer. 50.30.25 … "-" Captain? Why keep quiet? Captain!!!" The connection was lost.

From the report of Captain Azizkhani: “When the distance between the Fntom and the object was reduced to 25 miles, my connection with the Earth was interrupted and the equipment began to fail. I made the decision to end the persecution. Upon returning to the base, the equipment worked normally, communication was restored."
At 01:40 the second interceptor took off into the sky, led by Lieutenant Parviz Jafari.
From an interview with Parviz Jafari, retired general, November 12, 2007
“I got close to a distance of 30 miles. It was a huge luminous object, the light changed in intensity and color, it was blue, green, red, orange. Determining the size of the object was difficult. On my radar screen, I saw a mark corresponding to the dimensions of a Boeing 747 (aircraft length 70m, height 19m, ed.). When the distance between us was reduced to 25 miles, the object increased its speed and no matter how hard I tried, the same 25 miles remained between us.
A luminous cylinder 20 feet (7-8m) long and 5-6 (2m) wide separated from the object, with blue lights burning at its ends. The cylinder went towards me. I decided that the object intended to attack me and made the decision to fire the missile. But the launch did not happen. All equipment began to shut down. I confess that I got very scared and tried to eject, but the ejection system also failed. I made a bend, went to the side. When I moved away, the equipment began to turn on.
The cylinder went to the ground and fell. I went down and flew over the place of the fall. The lying cylinder illuminated all the rocks around with its light. I recorded the place of the fall. The next day, a group of military men flew here by helicopter, I was with them. We didn't find anything. The military several times flew there, stuffing all kinds of equipment into the helicopter, but they did not tell me if they found anything."
Investigation in hot pursuit
For several days, the military tried to find everyone who saw a UFO on the night of September 18-19. There were a lot of such people. It turned out that the UFO had fired at least 4 cylinders. One of them flew over the Mehrabad airport at an altitude of 650-750m. Pilot Yaddi Nazeri determined the speed of the object at 2-3 thousand miles / hour. Eyewitnesses described it as the size of a regular bus, with brightly lit lights at the ends and blinking in the middle.
25 minutes after flying over Mehrabad, the "cylinder" was seen by the crew and passengers of the Egyptian Airlines liner. The flight of a UFO over the territory of Iran was recorded by an Iranian military satellite.
What is remarkable about the incident
1. The object was observed in several places, from several points: from the control tower, by aircraft pilots, from the ground.
2. High reliability of observers. As in the case of the Randlesham Incident, the eyewitnesses were military personnel (experienced pilots, ground officers), whose honesty there is no reason to doubt.
3. Visual observations are confirmed by radar readings and data received from the satellite.
4. Twice there were electromagnetic influences on the equipment of the interceptors pursuing the object, which leaves no doubt about their purposefulness.
The "Iranian Incident" is one of the most documented UFO sightings by the military. Unfortunately, anyone who has familiarized themselves with dozens of documents in the folder will not receive an answer to any of his questions. But if he is ever asked whether he believes in the existence of UFOs, he will answer without hesitation: "Yes."
