Scientists using new technologies have explored an ancient map that depicts Antarctica before its discovery by James Cook. At one time, the find made the highest minds of mankind hotly debate and build new theories of the universe.
The manuscript was discovered in 1929. After the first study, scientists concluded that the map was drawn in the 15th century, although the detail and quality of drawing objects for that time was simply amazing. But the biggest mystery was in the depicted Antarctica. As is known from historical sources, this continent was discovered by James Cook in 1773. Therefore, the question still remains open - how could ancient people learn about the unknown continent.
As a result, many theories were built about the origin of the image of Antarctica on the ancient map. According to experts, it is drawn slightly east of its usual location. It was suggested that this is not Antarctica at all, but a land unknown to the modern world, buried under water centuries ago.
Discussions on this matter continue to this day.
