The history of the discovery of Arkaim is a graphic illustration of the saying “the new is the well forgotten old”. The strange circles attracted the attention of military cartographers back in 1957, but they did not even know about the secret of these circles.
When did you find it?
The second time Arkaim was discovered by civilian cartographers in 1969, during aerial photography of the area. They decided that this was some kind of secret military facility and should not be spread about it. And only in 1987 an expedition of young amateur archaeologists led by S. Botalov and V. Mosin finally revealed this amazing ancient settlement to the world. It is said that two schoolchildren who first drew the attention of their "senior comrades" to the artifacts of Arkaim were given a "prize" - a can of condensed milk.
As the Egyptians say, "everything is afraid of time, but even time is afraid of the pyramids." If so, then not only time, but also the pyramids themselves should experience a sacred awe for Arkaim: after all, according to scientists, this settlement is about 4,800 years old, it is a couple of centuries older than the ancient Egyptian pyramid of Djoser in Sakkara. And the legendary Homeric Troy (1300 - 1200 BC) suits Arkaim only as a granddaughter.
Many people know about Arkaim, but not everyone knows that this settlement was only part of the ancient Country of cities (not to be confused with Gardarika - the Scandinavian name of Russia!). Sintashta, Kuisak, Andreevskoe, Zhurumbay … More than 20 large settlements and several dozen small ones - a whole complex of Bronze Age monuments! - found by Russian archaeologists in the South Urals. The layout of the ancient "cities" is simple: the central square, one or two streets, several dozen "typical" houses, where there was a place for both household needs and housing. Like Arkaim, large "cities" were surrounded by wooden walls and ditches. Real fortresses, it is almost impossible to capture them for warriors with primitive bronze weapons. However, these walls also had a sacred meaning. So, in Arkaim, according to scientists, the outer ring-shaped wall was dedicated to the Sun, and the inner one - to the Moon.
According to the Russian astroarchaeologist Konstantin Bystrushkin, Arkaim, like the British Stonehenge (by the way, both archaeological sites are located at the same geographical latitude), are the world's oldest observatories. But Stonehenge allows you to track 15 astronomical events, and our Arkaim - 18: the rising and setting of the Sun on the days of the equinox and solstice, the rising and setting of the low and high moon, etc. Know ours! The inhabitants of Arkaim carried out their astronomical observations from the city walls. And the entire layout of the settlement reflected the ideas of our ancestors about the Universe. Figuratively speaking, Arkaim was for them the embodiment of paradise on Earth.
Not only Arkaim, but also the area around it is rich in all kinds of miracles. They assure that this is one of the strongest anomalous zones in Russia, which was chosen by UFOs and … tourists. Here you can fulfill your most cherished desire. Not far from the "citadel" of Arkaim, tourists laid out several intricate paths from stones. It is believed that you need to walk on them barefoot (and best of all - naked) and at the end of the path make a wish.

The mountains around Arkaim are also unusual. In good weather, it is pleasant to climb (fortunately, they are not high): on the Shamanka, you should meditate and charge yourself with positive energy, on the Mount of Repentance, ask for forgiveness from those whom you have ever offended. Unmarried ladies strive to climb the Mountain of Love and take a walk in the Male forest at its foot. It is believed that after this prom, no man can resist their charm. But it is better not to enter the Rook Grove - this is not a good place.
Arkaim stands on the left bank of the Bolshaya Karaganka River. Both local residents and numerous tourists are convinced of the healing properties of river water, which is "recharged" with energy from the settlement. Another attraction is coastal clay: an excellent remedy for skin diseases, as they say. In the sultry summer, you can observe a funny picture: dozens of people, smeared with clay from head to toe, "sunbathe" in the sun.
