This happened in 1997 in North Carolina (USA). The Whitley family was returning home from church. Julie was driving, her husband Andy sat next to her, and their eight-year-old son Landon sat in the back seat.
At the crossroads, Andy suddenly screamed. He was the first to see a car quickly approaching them from the side. The next instant, an ambulance crashed into the family's car, in the side where Andy and Landon were sitting.
“I have not seen the ambulance, but I remember how my husband shouted. And that was the last thing I heard from him, Julie said in an interview.

Andy Wheatley died instantly, taking the brunt of the ambulance on himself, Julie was injured, but later her condition stabilized.
The rescuers did not know that in addition to two adults there was a child in the car until they noticed his shoes. They managed to gently pull the 8-year-old boy out of the crashed car, even though he already looked dead.
Immediately on the spot, the boy was given resuscitation actions and managed to start his heart. But on the way to the hospital, he stopped breathing and again found himself in a state of clinical death. He was resuscitated again, but in the hospital the boy "died" again. And again he was saved.
After three clinical deaths, doctors were afraid to say something reassuring about the child's condition. They even told Julie that even if her son survived, he would remain seriously disabled: he would not be able to walk, talk or even eat due to severe brain damage.

Landon had a head injury and was in a coma for two weeks, justifying all the fears of doctors. But then he suddenly woke up and spoke and it turned out that he understood everything and his mental state was not affected.
Even more incredible were his words when his mother came to him and they began to talk.
“Do you know what happened to your dad?” Julie asked. "Yes, I know, I saw him in heaven." the boy replied suddenly.
Then Landon began to colorfully describe how he visited the "golden city" and saw Jesus and the Angels there. And besides his father, he met there his friend Olan Palmer and his son Neil - both had died in an accident several years before.

Julie had two miscarriages before Landon was born, a boy and a girl. Landon was never told about it, and in general in the family no one ever mentioned such a thing, even by chance in conversation.
“I know they were my brother and sister, although you did not tell me about them. But in heaven you know everything,”said the boy.
Now Landon is already a man of age and from that accident he only had scars on his head and memories of what he saw during his clinical death. And these memories make his life easier.
“Now I know that Paradise exists and angels also. When you know about it, life is much easier."
Landon and his mother wrote a book about this story, "The Road to Heaven", which tells in detail about that. what Landon saw. Both are confident that the book will help many who have lost their loved ones, including children.
