The new documentary, Codename Rendlesham, is dedicated to the investigation of the famous incident of the same name, which has already become an integral part of the history of UFO sightings.

A Chill Factor Films directed Adrian Freerson's film attempts to unravel the mystery of Britain's most famous UFO incident in 1980. Over the years, there has been a debate about what this mysterious object could have been, with theories ranging from an alien spacecraft to a nearby lighthouse.

Meanwhile, in subsequent years, more and more witnesses of the so-called UFO incident in Rendlesham made themselves felt, and their confident and unambiguous testimonies indicate that at that time and in that place there was a clearly "exotic" flying object

The documentary "Codename Randlesham" also includes conversations with former US Air Force personnel, scientists, UFO supporters and, of course, skeptics (where without them). The film will premiere this year in Woodbridge, UK.

UFO incident in Rendlesham Forest

The first incident occurred in the early morning of December 26, 1980, when lights were seen from Bentwaters Woodbridge Air Force Base in Britain and dropped into nearby Rendlesham Forest. It was like an airplane crash, and a duty unit from the American base immediately went to the scene. But what they saw there looked like stills from a sci-fi movie. The reality was that the closer the soldiers approached the alleged crash site, the brighter the light emanating from the strange object on the ground became, and the worse the radio communication with the base became until it was completely interrupted.

Promotional video:

The then Lt. Col. Charles Holt even recorded the incident on a portable tape recorder, while security personnel James Penniston and John Burroughs came close to the object, and Penniston even recorded mysterious symbols that were visible on the object's surface. While this was happening, there was no radio communication with the base. As the soldiers later told, the UFO light suddenly increased after about 25 minutes, after which the object began to rise noiselessly from the ground and flew away at great speed. Subsequent investigations of the site revealed three depressions in the ground, interpreted as traces of a landing, and in addition, increased radioactivity was found at the scene.

The second incident occurred on the night of December 28, 1980, when numerous eyewitnesses saw unusual lights over Rendlesham Forest. Later, witnesses also reported seeing a pulsing red-orange light in the forest performing strange zig-zag maneuvers between the trees. Alerted soldiers chased the light to a field at the edge of the forest, where the "something" seemed to explode, but an immediately organized search found no sign of an explosion. But soon after that, other unknown flying objects suddenly appeared in the sky, on which red, blue and green lights were visible. One of the objects flew up to the servicemen and froze in the air above them. They saw that the ship was in the form of a disc with lights around the edges. But then the soldiers were scared by a red beam of light, which flew out of a UFO and hit the ground just a few meters away. Eventually, the object quickly flew aside and disappeared from the soldiers' field of view, along with other objects. Thereafter, the lights were still observed from the base for about two hours.

Colonel Charles Holt confirms time gap

In an exclusive interview with The Sun Online, former British police officer Gary Heseltin of Scholes, West Yorkshire stated in early 2018 that he had a 2010 video clip in which retired Colonel Charles Holt claimed that his co-workers Penniston and Burroughs were indeed in for some time unavailable by radio, and he does not exclude that they may have been abducted by the inhabitants of the UFO. This video was supposed to be part of a planned documentary, which, alas, was never finished. In the short video, Holt says, “He [Burroughs] may have been kidnapped, who knows … Did you know there was a loss of radio communications? They just didn't get in touch … Those guys in the forest, they … they disappeared for a few hours."

The Sun Online then contacted Charles Holt about this video and asked for comment on his kidnapping allegation. But Holt refused to do so, although he admitted that something really happened to the two security personnel on the first night of the incident, and they disappeared for a while. He stated: “I never said that anyone was kidnapped. Yes, something happened to the first arrivals on the first night (December 25-26), but even they didn't know what it was. We only know that they disappeared somewhere for some time."

By the way, John Burroughs, when he approached the UFO, apparently was so exposed to radiation that it subsequently manifested itself on his health. After a while, he developed serious heart problems and had to undergo surgery. After a lengthy lawsuit, the U. S. Veterans' Association (VA) finally agreed in 2015 to compensate Burroughs for the damage he suffered while serving in the U. S. Army and reimburse his medical expenses. And this became practically a recognition that UFOs can really damage health.
