The world-famous Amber Room, which during the Second World War was kidnapped by the Nazis from the Tsarskoye Selo Palace and hidden somewhere in the spring of 1945, haunts archaeologists to this day. Moreover, there are a lot of versions where it may be located. Some of them have been tested and turned out to be false, others remain questionable, since there is no way to verify the reliability of such assumptions. For example, in Poland they are still looking for the Nazis' golden train, which may also contain the Amber Room.
The most recent version of where the Russian treasury is hidden appeared quite recently. It was voiced by German archaeologists who claim that the masterpiece of 18th century art is hidden in the caves of the Ore Mountains near Dresden. These are three researchers from Germany - Leonard Blume, Gunther Eckard and Peter Lohr. They are already pensioners, who are about seventy years old, so their statement that the information was obtained from a "reliable source", many scientists doubt: is it senile insanity?
But there are some strange details here. For example, their fathers served together, in the same Wehrmacht guard battalion, which leads to certain thoughts and allows us to hope that these people could really get reliable "information from the past." In addition, ground-penetrating radar showed that under the caves of the Ore Mountains on the border with Dresden, in fact, a whole system of tunnels was hidden, in which anything could be hidden.
And on the walls of the caves themselves, traces of steel cables are still traced, which were clearly used at one time to lower some weights here. It seems that this version will not be tested soon, but there is another hope that the Amber Room, created by the Prussian craftsmen by order of King Frederick the First and then donated by his son Wilhelm the First to the Russian Emperor Peter the First, sooner or later, but will certainly be found and returned to Russia.
