Former member of the US Senate from Nevada Harry Reid said that Washington needs to invest in the study of UFOs and related phenomena, since such studies are probably already underway in Russia and China, according to Newsweek. According to the magazine, as a senator, Reed helped fund secret government programs that dealt with the study of the paranormal. Meanwhile, recently released studies under one of these programs were sharply criticized by American scientists.

“I bet China is already spending some money on research in this direction. And I bet that the KGB agent Putin is also investing in the study of these phenomena, - said Reed in an interview with one of the American channels.
As emphasized in the material, in an interview with Reed, the topic of classified UFO research, which was reported by the American press in 2017, was raised. Among such projects, in particular, was the so-called High-Tech Aerospace Weapons Application Study Program (AAWSAP), within which cases of unidentified flying objects were recorded by the American military.
According to Newsweek, in the process of implementing the program, the US Department of Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) signed a $ 10 million research contract with Bigelow Aerospace, owned by billionaire Robert Bigelow, a close friend of Harry Reid's who has long studied UFOs and related phenomena.
As Reed himself confirmed, the Bigelow Aerospace study included a "mysterious ranch" in northeastern Utah, once owned by Bigelow and nicknamed "Werewolf Ranch." The territory of the ranch was a real "hotbed" of various kinds of paranormal phenomena: in the press there were reports that mutilated corpses of cows were found there, UFOs were seen and even "mysterious animals with yellow eyes, invulnerable to bullets," appeared in the Newsweek article.
Bigelow Aerospace's research program for RUMO also included 38 scientific papers with “ridiculous” titles like “Warp Drive, Dark Energy and Extra Dimensional Manipulation” and “Traveling Through Wormholes, Stargates and Negative Energy,” writes Newsweek. According to the journal's columnist, the authors of the research were employees of Bigelow Aerospace associated with the research group EarthTech International, founded by Hal Puthoff, an American physicist who received a notoriety for promoting pseudoscience; in particular, Puthoff spoke favorably of the Israeli “psychic-swindler” Uri Geller and advocated for Scientology.
