In Acta Astronautica, Gabriel de la Torre of the University of Cadiz explained that “when we think of 'brothers in mind,' we imagine them as our imaginations and minds can picture them. We tried to go beyond this framework and imagine intelligent beings living beyond the possible."
Many scientists believe that we cannot contact aliens for the reason that galactic civilizations either disappear too quickly, or are actively hiding the fact of their existence from humanity.
According to de la Torre, the absence of extraterrestrial intelligence is associated not with processes in space, but with psychology and the peculiarities of the human brain.
Previous experiments have shown that focusing on other details of the image makes certain things invisible to the eyes of 66% of the volunteers.
Note that this phenomenon, called the "gorilla effect", was discovered by American psychologists. They noticed that students counting passes between players of the same team in a basketball game did not notice how a boy in a gorilla suit appeared among them.
The same thing happens with people who try to find traces of "intelligent life" in photographs, relying only on their own ideas.
