Stephen Hawking warned that robots will one day destroy humans and become the new dominant form of life on Earth, capable of self-replicating.

“I am afraid that AI can replace humans in general,” the famous physicist told Wired magazine. “If humans come up with computer viruses that can replicate, someone will one day develop an Artificial Intelligence that will improve and replicate itself. It will be a new form of life that will surpass humans,”added Hawking.

Earlier, the scientist suggested that mankind think about moving to another planet, since, in his opinion, there are no more than a hundred years left before the disaster:

“Our land is becoming too small for us, the global population is growing at an alarming rate, and we are threatened with self-destruction. To avoid this apocalyptic scenario, humanity must come up with a space program with the goal of finally colonizing suitable planets for human habitation."

It is believed that the word “robot” was invented by the Czech writer Karel Čapek, preparing to work on his play RUR (“Rossum Universal Robots”). This is how he describes it in his memoirs:

“Listen, Josef,” the writer said, “I have an idea for a play.

- Which one? The artist muttered (he did mutter because he was holding the brush in his mouth at that moment. The author told him the idea as quickly as he could.

“So write it down,” the artist remarked, taking the brush out of his mouth and stopping work on the canvas.

Promotional video:

“But,” said the author, “I don’t know what to call these artificial workers. I want to call it Labori, but that seems too pedantic to me.

- Well, call them Robots, - the artist muttered with a brush in his mouth and went to the canvas.

That's how it was. So the word Robot was born …"

Thus, the word "robot" is at least 100 years old, although the age of the robots themselves is much, much more.

In medieval manuscripts (more precisely, in old books dating from this time), the "iron head" is mentioned, which the Templars brought from Jerusalem. The head stood on the table and gave the owner various advice. With the defeat of the order, this artifact of his, apparently, moved to the Vatican. But that's not the point.

In fact, we are talking about the fact that the idea of replacing people with machines is as old as the world, that about “robots will learn to copy themselves and displace humanity” even Mexican housewives like to get worn out in between watching TV series.

Although there were series about it. Probably Stephen Hawking also watched The Sarah Connor Chronicles and told about what he saw. And everyone did not know because of their feeble mind.

Nevertheless, journalists with trepidation caught all the words flying out of the glorified mouth and theses were published by the entire press of the world.

And a little earlier, the entire press discussed the "robot Sophia", which in 2016 shared her plans to destroy humanity.

This time, the talking doll was brought to Saudi Arabia, a circus was arranged with the issuance of citizenship, but the entire press focused not on a passport, but on a promise to massacre homosapiens.

Now Stephen Hawking, also a rather unusual character, who is considered by many to be fake, was connected to the topic.

It seems that a new trend has begun with robots, a message is given to people through the media. But what it means and for what purpose it is voiced is not yet clear.

We follow the development of events.
