Excavations in Egypt have not stopped for many decades, and every year many rather interesting discoveries are made by various research groups from different countries. This time, luck smiled at Polish archaeologists, who have been excavating a necropolis near Sakkara for many years.
In this season of excavations, the attention of scientists was focused on the site located near the pyramid of Djoser (which is considered the oldest by Egyptologists).
So, when studying the so-called Dry Moat (a trench around a pyramid 40 meters wide and 20 meters deep), very strange mummies were discovered.
Most of the mummies were subjected to general mummification and after they were wrapped in bandages, they were simply buried in the sand. Some of the mummies were buried in wooden coffins with paintings on them. This is where the strangeness lies.
As the Egyptologists stated, the inscribed hieroglyphs are in fact only an imitation and the inscribed text has no meaning.

One gets the impression that the text was applied by an illiterate specialist who was trying to simply imitate the text he had seen.
The painted god Anubis also looks very strange. As you know, the Egyptian god of the afterlife has always been depicted in black light. Anubis is also depicted here in blue.
The carved mask was missing, probably it was stolen earlier.
Studies have shown that the age of these mummies is at least 2000 years, which allows them to be attributed to ancient Roman time, and the age of the pyramid itself is approximately 4600 years.
The rest of the wooden sarcophagi are very badly damaged and therefore, it is not possible to establish whether any signs were applied to them.
In general, excavations in this area by Polish specialists have been carried out for more than twenty years, and during this time two large necropolises were discovered, where more than 500 mummies of ordinary people were buried.
And what they will be able to unearth in the foreseeable future is unknown. If you liked the article, then rate it like it. And thank you for your precious attention!
