Imagine driving down the street in your car in the rain and a shrimp lands on top of your windshield with all its might. And after her the second. And somewhere ahead, the wind carries an octopus through the air …

Residents of the coastal Chinese city of Qingdao in Shandong province in eastern China felt like they were inside a disaster movie last Wednesday.

Shrimps, octopuses, crustaceans and other marine life fell on them from the sky along with the rain. Later, a lot of photos with unexpected "gifts from heaven" appeared on social networks.

The local meteorological service solved the riddle. It was stated that a violent tornado captured octopuses and shrimp in the ocean and transported them to a nearby city during a heavy rainstorm with a hurricane. The wind speed reportedly set a new local record that day.

Previously, similar incidents occurred in 2017 in Mexico, when fish rained from the sky in the city of Tampico, and before that, a heavy fish shower took place in the city of Kerala, India in 2008.

The fault of the tornado in these two cases has not been proven, but the recent case in China seems to be his "handiwork". Although even here no one saw the tornado itself, and given the dense population of Chinese cities, it seems a little strange.

According to meteorologists, it is not uncommon for tornadoes to suck in and transport marine life hundreds of miles from their habitat. After the last storm in Qingdao, many trees fell and more than one road sign was demolished, so the wind was really strong.
