The mausoleum with the mummy of the leader of the October Revolution and the first ruler of the Soviet state, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, has been one of the attractions of Moscow for over 90 years. During this time, the historical object "overgrown" with a considerable number of mysteries and legends.
Why Lenin was put in the Mausoleum
As the official version says, the idea to bury V. I. Lenin in the Mausoleum was born among the Bolsheviks and workers. After the death of the leader, numerous letters with similar proposals began to arrive from the working people to the address of the leadership of Soviet Russia. In the government, M. I. Kalinin, and almost everyone supported him, only L. D. Trotsky called this idea "madness."
However, most modern historians believe that in fact, I. V. personally took the initiative to embalm the body of the leader and place it in the Mausoleum. Stalin. Why did he need it?
According to some experts, Joseph Vissarionovich made an attempt to impose on the Soviet people a kind of new religion, reminiscent of the cults of Ancient Egypt, which deified the pharaohs. Indeed, the Mausoleum for many years turned into an object of worship for the Soviet people.

The embalming of the corpse of the proletarian leader was carried out under the guidance of biochemist B. I. Zbarsky. The latter took care of the maintenance of Lenin's remains in the desired condition for thirty years, until his own death in 1954.
In 1939, a research laboratory was organized under the USSR Ministry of Health, which was engaged in solving scientific and practical problems related to the preservation of Lenin's body. One of the rooms inside the Mausoleum was specially allocated for the laboratory. It existed for more than half a century and in 1992 became a part of the All-Union Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (VILAR) as a Research and Training Center for Biomedical Technologies.
Once in a year and a half, the body of the leader is immersed in a balsamic liquid. However, even in the absence of such "leaving" the mummy is able not to deteriorate for several decades.
It is curious that at first a member of the CEC Leonid Krasin suggested that the body of V. I. Lenin frozen. Moreover, the idea found a response from V. Molotov and F. Dzerzhinsky. But it turned out that it was impossible to establish an uninterrupted supply of electricity to the freezer, which means that in the event of a power outage, the remains of the leader could suffer.
Adventures of a mummy in Tyumen
In July 1941, in connection with the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, the mummy of V. I. Lenin was evacuated to Tyumen. It was placed on the second floor of the building where the main building of the Tyumen State Agricultural Academy is located today. This information, of course, was classified, but rumors still circulated. Employees of the educational institution said that during its stay in Tyumen, Lenin's mummy began to become covered with black mold and academician Zbarsky was almost shot for this. But by some miracle he was able to save the mummy from the misfortune and thus saved his life.
In April 1945, the body was returned to the capital again.
Isn't Lenin in the Mausoleum at all?
This version arose thanks to the expert of TsNEAT A. N. Kolmykov, who, on the basis of a criminal-portrait examination of the available photographs of Lenin, came to sensational conclusions.
Thus, he believes that the photographs with the signature “V. I. Lenin in front of a recording apparatus in the Kremlin. Moscow, March 29, 1919 "and" The body of V. I. Lenin in the House of Unions "(1927) depicted is not at all the person we see in the photographs of the young Ulyanov.
According to conspiracy theorists, Lenin could have been replaced when he was in Germany. The real Ulyanov could not agree to lead a coup in his country, and then he was probably eliminated, and a German agent appeared in his place. And the well-known Leninist burr is nothing more than a foreign accent. True, in order to confidently assert the fact of substitution, information is required that Vladimir Ulyanov had no speech defects in his youth. And so far no one can confirm this.
Lenin is alive ?
Several years ago, a mysterious recording from the Mausoleum made by a film camera appeared on the Web. It shows how Lenin's mummy raises its left hand, then stretches its entire body forward and then falls back into the sarcophagus. American researchers of the paranormal, led by Professor of Philadelphia University of Mechanics John Capri Jr., became interested in the recording. They took it apart and stated that it was not a photomontage or special effects. “Moreover, the numbers on the storyboard and the time 'running' at the top of the screen are one hundred percent consistent with the standards used by cameras in the Mausoleum,” Capri wrote in an article on the phenomenon.
Capri and his colleagues even tried to break through to the body of the leader to examine him for secret resurrection. But the guard of the Mausoleum did not go to meet them. Nevertheless, history has given rise to many tales that the mummy has long been showing signs of life and this has been repeatedly recorded by the employees of the Mausoleum and the Kremlin. They even think that at night the leader gets out of the sarcophagus and wanders around the Kremlin.
The communists especially liked the legend. They say, there was a reason in Soviet times, there was a slogan: "Lenin lived, Lenin is alive, Lenin will live!"
