The year of foundation of Moscow in our time is 1147. It was then that the first mention of this place appeared in the annals and it is associated with the name of Yuri Dolgoruky. Nine years later - in 1156 - the Tver Chronicle also indicated the exact place of the foundation of the future capital of Russia - the Kremlin on the current Borovitsky Hill.

Archaeological research on the territory of the modern Kremlin suggests that people lived here already in the second millennium BC. - in the era of the Bronze Age. But even closer to us - in the Iron Age - life did not stop boiling here, as evidenced by the artifacts found by archaeologists near the walls of the Archangel Cathedral.
In the days of paganism, on the present Borovitsky Hill, as the most convenient place on the territory at the confluence of two rivers - Smorodinka (as the Moscow River was then called) and Neglinka - there was a volkhov temple. And the place was called Witch Mountain?

Here - on Witch Mountain - they performed their sacraments and sacrificed sacred Slavic animals. The latter is confirmed by bones and heads of horses, bulls and cows found during excavations on the territory of the Kremlin.
