The evidence collected by the investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug was recognized by the court as sufficient for the sentencing of a 34-year-old resident of the Onega region and her 15-year-old daughter.

They were found guilty depending on the role of each in committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder; the mother acted as an accomplice to her daughter in the commission of this crime). The woman was also found guilty under part 1 of article 139 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal entry into a home, committed against the will of a person living in it).

The investigation found that the accused, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, on the night of December 16, 2013, together with her underage daughter, through an unlocked door entered the house of a neighbor in a village located in the Onega district of the Arkhangelsk region, with the aim of killing her for ritual purposes, allegedly to preserve the gift of the witch.

The daughter, with the complicity of her mother, inflicted several blows on the head and limbs with a poker. The criminal intent was not brought to an end due to circumstances beyond their control, as the victim pretended to be dead. The accused fled the scene of the crime, and the victim was provided with qualified medical assistance.

By the verdict of the Onega City Court of the Arkhangelsk Region, the woman was sentenced to 7 years in prison with serving in a general regime correctional colony, and her 15-year-old daughter was sentenced to 4 years in prison with serving in an educational colony. The court verdict did not come into legal force.
