Experts from the Miami Archaeological University made a very interesting statement. According to scientists, Egypt, contrary to popular belief, is not the world leader in the number of stone pyramids. It is possible that many of us will find it difficult to believe, but the fact remains: there is a state in Africa where there are more such man-made miracles.
Yes, the country of Egypt has been famous since ancient times for its great architectural monuments. However, in this state one can find "only" one hundred and eighteen pyramidal structures of various sizes and shapes, while in the neighboring country - Sudan - their number exceeds one and a half hundred. Despite the fact that in the Arab Republic of Egypt there are the legendary pyramids of Giza, in the Republic of Sudan there are several dozen more cult tombs.
Researchers, however, are not particularly surprised by their discovery, since the connection between Egypt and Sudan has existed since the beginning of Egyptian history. The erection of the famous Egyptian temples was carried out not only at home, but also in the southern regions of Sudan up to the current capital Khartoum. All territories with pyramidal structures of the Meroite Kingdom are located between the sixth and third rapids of the Nile River.
The pyramids of ancient Sudan are not as mysterious as the Egyptian ones
Ancient Sudanese tombs took a variety of forms. Some of them were built in the form of three- and four-sided pyramids with smooth walls, others in the form of multi-stage ziggurats. If we compare the ancient Sudanese architectural masterpieces with the Egyptian pyramids, the latter had more sloping slopes. Moreover, in the Sudanese pyramids there are no rooms, secret tunnels and intricate labyrinths. At least the experts never found them. Inside there are only niches in which sarcophagi with mummies and ceremonial statues are placed. Perhaps such a continuous masonry without any interior refinements was considered more expedient and durable here.

American scientists claim that many tombs are also located underground in Sudan. Most of them have probably not even been found by specialists yet. The thing is that the underground burials of rulers and high-ranking nobles were carried out here in a checkerboard pattern, and the traces of many of the tombs were lost in the sands of time. However, one can hope that in the near future, advanced technology will allow archaeologists to unearth these pyramids, revealing them to light.
