The multitude of ghostly phenomena that cause fear by eyewitnesses are usually quite harmless. Moving objects, flickering lights, strange sounds, and even transparent visions are mostly harmless things. However, there are some places known in the ghost hunter circles where the ghostly entities are quite aggressive in nature.
One such place is the old Chatham County Jail, located at the corner of Oglethorpe Avenue and Montgomery Street in Savannah, Georgia, USA, where 30,000 prisoners were serving their sentences until 1989. Then the prison was closed and the city archive was placed there. And after the premises were vacated in 2006, they began to celebrate Halloween every year, which turned out to be quite appropriate, since, despite the fact that the prisoners left this prison long ago, some of them still remained in it in one or a different form.
Reports of supernatural activity in the prison building began to appear after the archive entered it, whose staff constantly complained of footsteps, voices, shouts, banging on the walls and uncontrolled opening and closing of elevator doors. Some have experienced the shocks of someone's invisible hands. One of the workers in this haunted house even claimed to have seen an invisible force hurling a 60-kilogram slab onto the floor, which was confirmed by several archive visitors. The number of unexplained cases continued to increase, and soon a spreading cloud of fear hung over the entire building.
“I worked here from 1989 to 1990, and even then a lot of strange things were happening here. During the night watch, we heard the knocking of doors and footsteps in the stairwell. We rushed in there, but there was no one there,”recalls Major Russell Smith of the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.
In addition to various strange phenomena, the old prison is home to individual entities with the most sinister reputation. It is believed that the ghost of a former prisoner named Karl Isaacs appears here, who escaped from a prison in Maryland in 1973 with two accomplices. The fugitives stole a car and went to Florida. In the countryside, they ran out of gas and broke into the home of a farmer named Olday. A simple robbery, unfortunately, turned into a tragedy, as a result of which a family of 6 people was killed.
The horrific murder shook the entire country, and the captured Isaacs was imprisoned in Chatham County Jail and sentenced to death. After several decades of litigation, he was finally executed in May 2003.
So, it is not surprising that the old Isaacs cell is today considered a place where paranormal activity just rolls over. It is said that if you call out the spirit of Karl Isaacs by name, you can feel waves of rage and hatred that spread even beyond the camera. The ghost's violent behavior is so unpredictable that even seasoned ghost hunters dare not enter this chamber.
The Chatham County Jail attracts a variety of researchers who claim that the building has the most active vocal phenomena and other manifestations. A team led by Ryan Dunn of the Savannah Ghost Research Society, after spending a night in the prison, claims it is by far one of the most active haunted places. Over the past night, they recorded over 50 anomalous voices, one of which demanded that they leave, the second said, “Look at me,” and the third asked, “Hey guys, where are you? Is this anxiety?"

“We came with a lot of equipment and made a lot of audio recordings. And on the thermal imager, we caught a ghostly figure that was walking along the corridor, and then went into one of the cameras, squatted down, got up and went back. We even saw her shadow. Everyone was a little uneasy, says researcher Ryan Dunn. “I'd say this is the coolest haunted place. I expected there to be something here, but what we found exceeded all my expectations. It was amazing."
