An investment company owned by Bill Gates has acquired 10,000 hectares of land near Phoenix, the capital of Arizona. According to a message posted on the company's website, in the future it is planned to build a "smart city", which will be called Belmont, after the company Belmont Partners, which made the purchase.
“The city of Belmont will be built with a vision of the future. In it, modern communications and infrastructure will be harmoniously combined with recreation areas, convenient streets, on which, over time, powerful data centers, test samples of the most modern technologies and unmanned vehicles will appear. New business models and the most modern production technologies will be tested in the city,”the company said in a press release.
According to the preliminary development plan, a tenth of Belmont is planned to be allocated for schools, offices and administrative buildings, the rest of the area is going to be given for development to companies and start-ups that will express a desire to work in the new "smart city".
Representatives of the Arizona administration are satisfied with the purchase. It is reported that almost all the formalities have already been settled, but nothing has been announced about exactly when it is planned to start construction.
