70-year-old Rajo Devi gave her husband, 72-year-old Ram Bale, a daughter. A unique case was recorded by doctors, and only official medical certificates make one believe that history is not a fairy tale
Devi and Ram got married in 1954. For 10 years, the husband faithfully waited for his wife to give him a child, and then was forced to marry her younger sister. But that didn't help either. The well-to-do peasant did not stop loving his first wife and believing that they would someday experience the happiness of being parents. And this faith was rewarded. The dream was helped by enterprising doctors from a fertilization center in the Indian city of Hisar.
Thanks to Dr. Anurag Bishnoy, a woman who started menopause 20 years ago gave birth to a girl. “Now mom and her daughter are doing fine,” said Dr. Bishnoy. “In another couple of days, they will be discharged from the clinic. We are all very happy for this family!
Rajo Devi became the oldest woman to ever give birth on earth. Rajo's pregnancy was made possible by artificial insemination. This procedure was carried out in April 2008. Fearing that such an aging patient could not stand twins or triplets, the specialists implanted only one fertilized embryo in her, using a revolutionary technique for this.
“Usually, in order to have a great chance of success, doctors implant two or three embryos,” says Dr. Bishnoy. - We took only one. But our process of transferring a fertilized embryo took five days, when it usually takes two to three days.
The girl's parents looked younger before their eyes. Ram is not worried about who will raise his daughter when he has to leave this world.
“It's not a problem,” says the father. - We have a very large and friendly family, which is very common in our region of Haryana. - For the fact that we became parents at 70, no one will blame us. Just because we did not have children for 55 years, we were almost expelled from the village.
