A Facebook user found a strange creature on the beach that looked like a living green oval. The photo of the mysterious animal puzzled Facebook users, but the jokes about aliens (as always) did not turn out to be true. After all, this is only an inhabitant of the ocean, whom nature has awarded with not the most attractive appearance.

On October 16, Yahoo News reported about the unusual find of a Facebook user. The report says that a Queensland woman said she stumbled upon the creature on a beach in Scarborough, a suburb of Perth. The Australian woman could not identify the animal, but she can be understood, because, judging by the attached photo, it looks more like a strange green jelly-like bag. Also with dark spots (the author of the post considered them for blood).

Okay, this is not the animal found by the Australian woman, but the character from Rick and Morty. A snapshot of that same miracle creature can be seen below.

The commentators' versions of what kind of creature it was varied. Someone thought that it could be whale vomit, which is used to create perfume and therefore is very valuable and expensive. There were also jokes that the sack caterpillar was an alien in a cocoon. But some Facebook users still correctly identified the type of green - and this is not an alien, but a sea hare.

Sea hares or aplysias are molluscs that usually live on rocky shores or in seaweed, says the site of the Australian Museum. In these animals, the shell is not outside, but inside their soft body and protects the organs.

And the ocean inhabitant also has blades, thanks to which they float, and the appearance is not the most attractive from a human point of view. Other relatives of the hare found by the Australian also resemble jelly or aliens from the animated series. What is this sea boy worth.

And his greenish fellow.

By the way, the dark spots on the body of the clam from the picture are not blood, but ink, Professor Ian Tibbetts from the University of Life Sciences of Queensland told Yahoo. Sea hares, like many other molluscs, discard them in case of danger. Camouflage coloring also protects them from predators. Together with poisonous mucus, which often covers the entire aplysia, this makes the animal almost invulnerable to predators, writes Australian Geographic.

But people should also be careful with bearded seals. After touching the ocean dweller, it is better not to touch your mouth and eyes and wash your skin. Moreover, these molluscs can be dangerous for dogs, which are often keenly interested in them and even try to eat them. In the latter case, the dog may suffer from spasms, says Professor Calum Brown of the Department of Biological Sciences at Macquarie University.
