In 1865, at the age of five, little Max Hoffmann contracted cholera. Immediately, the parents sent their eldest son for a local doctor. They really wanted to help their child. But the doctor did not console the parents. After examining the baby, the doctor concluded that the boy was unlikely to recover. Unfortunately, the boy died three days later. He was buried in the village cemetery.
The night after the boy's funeral, his mother had a strange dream. In her dream, Max turned in the coffin on the right side, and then made attempts to get out of the "creepy box". However, his attempts were unsuccessful, so the boy put his hands under his right cheek and fell asleep. The unhappy woman woke up in a cold sweat. She woke up her husband and almost on her knees begged him to dig up her son's grave, but he was sure that an ordinary nightmare was foreseen for his wife and for this reason did not fulfill her request.
However, on the second night, the mother had this dream again. Now she was already sure that this was not just a dream, but a vision. This time the husband was unable to refuse the crying wife. It was the middle of the night. Therefore, one had to go to the cemetery with a flashlight. After checking the boxes for a flashlight, Mr. Hoffman found their old flashlight broken. Therefore, he asked the eldest son to run after a neighbor.
At three o'clock in the morning, two men were already at the cemetery. The eerie coldness of the gloomy tombstones did not frighten those present at all. The men set to work by the light of a flashlight, which they hung on a branch of a nearby pine tree. Soon they dug up the coffin and opened it. What they saw shocked them. Max's body was turned on its right side, and the arms were carefully folded under the right cheek. Mr. Hoffman was surprised. His wife really had a prophetic dream.
Outward signs indicated that Max was dead. However, the boy's father believed that there was still a tiny hope for survival. He took the body of his child, climbed on a horse and rode to the doctor. The doctor was no less surprised, but did not refuse to do everything possible to try to revive the baby, whom he had sentenced to death two days ago. And a miracle happened! After about an hour, his attempts were crowned with success: Max's eyelid trembled. For complete healing, I had to use brandy. And under the baby's weak body they put bags of heated salt. Gradually, Max's condition improved markedly.
Fantastic way, after a week, little Max was already completely healthy. As a result, he lived for eighty years and left this world in Clinton. All his life he never parted with two small metal hands that saved his life on that terrible and at the same time amazing night. No wonder they say that a mother's heart cannot be deceived.
