The Bolshaya Suka mountain range is located within the boundaries of the Zyuratkul National Park, on the territory of the Chelyabinsk Region. The ridge consists of 2 parts: Big and Small Bitch. The height of the Small Peak is 892 meters, and the Big one is 1195 meters. The mountain stretches for 27 kilometers in length. The ridge is distinguished by the presence of a large number of rocks, cliffs, ledges and stone faults. The exception is the north of the ridge - there is a vast plateau. Outwardly, the relief resembles an uneven sheer wall made of gray-green bricks. This is because the slopes are covered with stone rivers - kurumniks. Their boulders are densely overgrown with green lichens, almost hiding the color of the rock. The stones, as a rule, are slippery and dancing underfoot, so it is more comfortable to climb where there are thickets of mosses and relatively rare trees between the stones. Among local historians, three main versions of the appearance of such an atypical name are widespread: from the Tatar "bitch" - "plow", the Bashkir "bitch" - "hill" and the Bashkir "suuk" - "cold". The most probable is the third version, although with the onset of the era of industrial development of the Southern Urals, the name was changed to a more convenient pronunciation.

So, hike! Gorgeous weather, great company, great mood, great views. We have already tried to take this summit in winter. Then we entered from the other side, from the ice fountain. True, we only reached the Frozen Cliff, it was impossible to go further - the kurum (stone placer) blocked the way. You just move away from the path and fall up to your neck into the gap between the stones, masked by a snow cap. And, by the way, there are no paths at all, everything is changed. Therefore, they left until better times.

And now the second attempt to "assault" the difficult peak. We started from the village of Katavka, at about noon.

SukA ridge.

A pleasant path among fragrant firs and spruces, mischievous streams with delicious soft water, mushrooms rushing under your feet. We walked relaxed to the pass with a soft climb. Didn't notice how we went to 1000 m.

The Kurum slope is a rather difficult path to the top.

They took us to the right from the pass and began our "bon voyage" along the endless kurum bumps. And you climb, and you climb, and you climb, and you climb … - will they end up someday or not ?! In general, at this very moment you begin to think that the etymology of the name of the mountain has not only a “historical” meaning, but also the most direct one. Crawling the kurum and pulling out your leg from the next crevice, you repeatedly pronounce the name of the mountain, lamenting the difficult conditions of the ascent. Who knows, maybe local historians are looking for roots in the origin of the name of the mountain in the wrong direction.

The Suka Ridge looks very impressive from the side, thanks to the numerous rocks, cliffs and talus. Whether from the highway or from Uvan - the views captivate. But only after passing this path you understand the true value of this beauty. The rarely hatching path is almost unreadable. Kurum heaps, the size of a house, alternate with short wooded dashes. Continuously climbing up. When the sight of where we needed was revealed, some "accomplices" tried to lose heart. But in the end, everyone crossed the route. They did it despite the contrary.

It is interesting that the boulders are composed of round, as if sea boulders of the correct shape, as if connected to each other by cement, obviously of lava origin.

In the rare "babkayozhka woods" the path winds between fabulous mossy stones, now and then showing chains of moose tracks.

On the plateau to the north of the highest point, we met a benevolent grandfather with a huge backpack. Grandfather climbed here for berries. And the berries are really the sea: blueberries, lingonberries, blueberries, even raspberries and shiksha have survived in some places. Grandfather treated us to apples and chocolates, first carefully asking if we owned a "gnawing apparatus") We wished grandfather a rich "catch" and set off on the way back.

Despite the seeming accessibility of the peak, you should not take it lightly, and make your own ascents only in good weather. Even with light rain, which happens very often in the mountains, you can immediately forget about easy trekking.

We went out all day. True, it took us a couple of hours to cook and eat a wonderful barbecue on the pass, located at an altitude of more than 1000 meters above sea level. After enjoying a wonderful lunch and stunning views, our group set out on the way back in a friendly gang. Halfway to the cars they walked with lanterns.

In the darkness, the air thickened even more and filled with a rich fir spirit mixed with the smell of rotten grass. The crystal murmur of the brook lured to drink on the path. The water here is really delicious.

Having reached the village and having sipped fragrant tea, we thanked the local residents, who sheltered our "horses" for the post, we rushed home.
