The Hopi are one of the significant groups of American Indians. Today, the Hopi live in the state of Arizona. Ancient legends and even archaeological evidences have survived, indicating that the Hopi once came to these places, having traveled a long way. The Hopi have preserved ancient myths and legends to this day, despite the fact that at the beginning of the 20th century, a split into two camps (traditionalists and progressives) took place in their ranks.

For the adherents of the theory of paleocontact (the visit of alien beings to the ancient Earth), the unusual legends of these Indians are of considerable interest.

Much in the life of the Hopi is centered around the legendary kachin (kiyakiyapchina), beings who were not gods, but always served as messengers. The Hopi respectfully call them "highly esteemed, respected Knowers." Kachina were their teachers, legislators, righteous teachers of life.

When the scientist Joseph F. Blamrich asked where the Kachinas came from and what they looked like, Polar Bear, the leader of the Hopi, answered: “They came to us from space. They came not from our planetary system, but from another, distant planet … The Hopi call this planet Toonaotakha ….

Thus, these kachinas may turn out to be especially interesting objects of research from the point of view of the theory of paleocontact.

How old and how authentic the Hopi traditions are, their dances and the custom of making small dolls (kachintihus) depicting these mysterious kachinas for their children are clearly demonstrated. This, explained the leader of the White Bear, is done so that children get used to the "Knowing".

These most mysterious "Bearers of the secret knowledge of their homeland" or "Knowers from a distant star", who are portrayed in traditional ceremonies as "elders who came from heaven", left the Hopi when they thought that they had told them enough information about the nature, essence and life of man. The universe and the Creator, and founded their own settlement - the so-called Oraibi. The Hopi's religious and worldview ideas are based on these postulates.

The Hopi Indians used to often host colorful Kachin dance ceremonies, for which the Indians wore masked costumes depicting these Kachinas. Ceremonies are held now, but they have become less massive and bright.

The Kachina myths literally permeate the entire world of Hopi (and also a group of Zuni tribes) performances, both everyday and sacred. The images of the Kachin are closely related to the earliest legends about the universe, about their origin, wanderings and the transfer of knowledge.

Kachina were depicted in the form of figurines (wooden dolls), graphically (rock paintings), and also indirectly - through costumes and masks. Each of these masks can be viewed as a display and a "reduced version" of the image of a god-like creature, that is, objects that clearly had a real prototype, a kind of "model".

The volumetric or graphical transmission of information, which by plastic means, as it were, confirms the reliability of oral legends, is important to the extent that it - we must not forget that the Hopi people did not have a written language - could be much more stable than a spoken and forgotten word.

Since the Hopis did not possess at least a primitive script, they had storytellers (the Hopis highly valued such elders extremely highly) who had a good memory and were of unparalleled cultural importance for the community.

“Their brains contained everything that they managed to collect and remember in unwritten times; moreover, they had neither archiving, nor a system of help and search. The death of one of these elders was tantamount to the death of an entire city library: many of the most valuable arrays of information turned out to be irretrievably lost …"

In the form of dolls depicting kachina, the image merges with the word-memory, as a result of which a new dimension of stability and precision is created. These dolls reproduce images in peculiar helmets (here the aspect that brings them closer to the astronauts' spacesuit should be emphasized) with horns resembling antennas. This symbolism clearly points to the universe and other planets.

In addition, ancient rock paintings depict oval and round Kachin devices, the so-called "flying shields", with the help of which they could freely soar over land and water bodies, climb beyond the clouds and return home to their home planet. (These drawings can be compared to modern UFO depictions, as insisted on by the Hopi religious leaders.)
