In recent years, unusual light phenomena have become more frequent in New Zealand. New Zealand newspapers and magazines write about these phenomena from time to time, they are discussed on TV channels.
The first news of the appearance of crosses of light in New Zealand came from a woman who said that when she was a child and lived in Waiuku (an area in southern Auckland), a fire broke out in the house. No people were injured, but the house was partially burned down: the premises, to which the bathroom was adjacent, remained intact.
After the fire, crosses of light were found on the glass of her windows. She believes that it was a sign of salvation from the fire. When photographs of such crosses appeared, she recognized “her own” among them.
Since 1994, there have been 11 reports of this phenomenon from different cities in New Zealand. The case of the appearance of crosses of light in the windows of a house in the Epsom district (in the center of Auckland) is well described, they were photographed. A couple of weeks before their appearance, the famous English artist and esotericist Benjamin Crème stayed in this house, who came to New Zealand to read his lectures here.
After his departure, the Crosses were discovered by those who looked after the house during the long absence of his owners. Subsequently, crosses of light appeared on the glass of houses in different parts of Auckland: Beachhaven (1997), Devonport (1997), Glen Innes (1998), on the glass of an Indian cinema in Balmoral (1998), Buckland Beach (1999) and again in Epsom (2000).
In the latter case, crosses of light appeared on the windows of the Rretirement village (a house where the elderly live) on Easter Sunday. In the same 2000, crosses were discovered at once on two windows of a Catholic church in Newton. But in 2008, the cross of light was seen on the front door of one of the houses (Takapuna). In the case of the appearance of the light cross on the windows of the house in Devonport, it was regarded as a sign of Christ.

A person who was previously depressed, had many life problems and moved into this house literally three weeks before the cross appeared. For him, the Cross became a sign of hope.
Possible explanation?
Usually such Crosses appear as a reflection of some external light source. So, in 2007 in Otumoetai (a district of Tauranga city), the owner saw crosses from the incident light from a street lamp. There were many crosses. They walked along the house, along the walls of one of the rooms and along the doors of a side exit and a toilet.
Such crosses are often surrounded by a circle of light. Sometimes crosses of light appear on glass touched by frost. Usually this phenomenon occurs from a candle or lamp. But in November 1999, a Cross appeared on the glass of the front door of a small cottage located behind the main house in Bucklands Beach, constantly changing colors. The family of the owner of the house discovered that this effect was caused by a TV running in their room.
