In the Chinese city of Urumqi, 68 human skulls with holes of indeterminate origin were displayed at an exhibition of antiquities. Scientists experts found it difficult to determine the cause of the "third eye", TASS notes.
Some experts believe that the holes are traces of mortal wounds received in battles. Other scientists believe that similar damage could have been caused by a medical operation designed to save the lives of local residents.
Also, some experts refer to information about ritual autopsies, which were performed by Tibetan monks to open the third eye.
To find out the causes of the damaged scientists intend to resort to the help of forensic experts. Perhaps experts will be able to determine the nature of the mysterious damage.
It is noted that all the skulls were found during excavations in Xinjiang in 1986-1989. The estimated age is at least 2,200 years.
