Looking at the terrace in Baalbek, one cannot help feeling that this temple has an inhuman scale. The question arises: "When and by whom was the beginning of this construction?" There are a number of hypotheses trying to explain this phenomenon. One of them speaks of the possibility of visiting the Earth in ancient times by aliens from outer space. It was this hypothesis that sparked general interest in the complex of ancient temples at Baalbek in the early 1960s.

In 1959, an article was published by the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, physicist, astronomer and expert in ancient languages M. Agrest "Cosmonauts of antiquity." According to the author of the article, a number of biblical texts, inconceivably high knowledge of the ancients in astronomy, as well as some monuments of the past could be associated with the presence of representatives of some highly developed alien civilization on Earth. In particular, he writes: “It can be assumed that the astronauts surveyed the solar system by small ships, starting from the Earth. For these purposes, they may have needed to get additional nuclear fuel on Earth and build special sites and storage facilities. They also, undoubtedly, should have left the memory of their stay on Earth. Do not these distinctive structures, such as the Baalbek terrace, belong to these monuments? " Questions, posed by M. Agrest, at one time caused a sensation, made many specialists think about it, but so far have not received unambiguous answers. An old legend about the Baalbek terrace says the following: "This building … was only erected to store priceless treasures in its underground vaults, which should be there now …" M. Agrest, not knowing about the existence of this legend, expressed a guess, similar to this legend and that the aliens left an important message to people, sealing it with hard-to-destroy structures. And these structures themselves "were supposed to serve as a reference point for finding the main document with detailed information …"but so far they have not received unambiguous answers. There are versions trying to explain the construction in Baalbek in an exclusively traditional way, referring to the fact that some Egyptian obelisks and elements of the pyramids are no less impressive, or even more massive, but do not claim to be of alien origin. Nevertheless, it is impossible to explain the appearance of the Baalbek terrace and the same pyramids of Egypt using levers and rollers with hundreds of thousands of builders, and most scientists understand this. Levers and rollers are effective for masses of several tons, but not for hundreds … And if we talk about the precision of processing and pairing of elements, we inevitably come to the conclusion that the ancient builders (whoever they were) possessed technologies that are incomprehensible today. The Russian traveler of the 19th century K. Geikin wrote in his book The Holy Land and the Bible, published in 1884:"We are so accustomed to consider ourselves and all modern generations are smarter and more educated than the ancients, which does not prevent such miracles as the temple of Baalbek, a little to knock our arrogance …"

There is another version that better explains the origin of the Baalbek terrace. M. Agrest, referring to the Biblical texts, had in mind the famous passage from the book of Genesis: “When people began to multiply on earth and daughters were born to them, then the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were beautiful, and took [them] to their wives which one has chosen”(Genesis 6: 1,2), understanding by the sons of God aliens from outer space. However, this interpretation of these words is too loose. The Old Testament, speaking of the sons of God, means angels. The apocryphal “Book of Enoch” reveals to us that the creatures from Genesis 6: 1,2 are none other than the angels who fell from Heaven. This idea is confirmed by the biblical text from the Epistle of Jude: “… and the angels, who did not retain their dignity, but left their dwelling place, are kept in eternal bonds, under darkness, at the judgment of the great day” (Jude 1: 6).

The author of the “Book of Enoch” says that it was these angels who brought a lot of knowledge to mankind, most of which brought him irreparable harm. They also caused the appearance of giants - people of incredible growth. Let us recall that the megalithic structures of antiquity, and in particular the Baalbek terrace, differ in cyclopean dimensions. All this indirectly indicates that it was intended for people of very large (incredible for us) growth. The construction of such structures by giants changes the situation radically: possessing special knowledge and incredible power, they could freely construct buildings like the temple in Baalbek, and the size of individual building elements becomes quite understandable … In this regard, I would like to quote Mark Twain's statement: “Walls and towers Baalbek is a book sealed with seven seals. It is not excludedthat many centuries ago a tribe of Gods or giants lived in Baalbek. An ordinary person of our time would not have enough strength to build such a temple …"

So, Baalbek's riddle exists and makes you wonder. It will take a lot of research before humanity finds the answer …
