Various references to the Anunnaki can often be found in articles of the UFO focus. Let's try to figure out why they became so popular and what exactly they did for this.

The Anunnaki are mentioned in Sumerian-Akkadian mythology. There they are one of two (along with the Igigi) clan groups or phratries of the gods who inhabited the earth, the underworld and heaven. The functions of the Anunnaki in mythology are not entirely clear, but probably the main one was determining the fate of people. They could also act as intermediaries between gods and people, patrons and protectors of people.

Previously, only archaeologists and researchers of ancient Sumer knew about the Anunnaki, and the writer-ufologist Zecharia Sitchin made them overly popular, calling the Anunnaki the real creators of Homo sapiens.

But first things first. In February 2001, scientists solemnly announced that the human genome had been decoded. True, there were more questions than answers. To begin with, the human genome turned out to contain not 100-140 thousand genes, as scientists assumed, but only 28 thousand.

In addition, it was discovered that the human genome contains 223 genes that are not found in any other living creature on Earth. They were not at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, they did not move from step to step, and then suddenly - once! - appeared at the very top.

How could a person acquire so many mysterious genes?

Scientists, once again scratching their heads, thoughtfully stated that man "imported" them from … bacteria, moreover, not so long ago (in the sense of the evolutionary time scale) and not along the vertical of the tree of life, but horizontally, from the side, so to speak. And what else can you think of if there are none at the bottom: there is a genetic gap?

However, is it worth arguing about such trifles? Just think, there are 223 genes out of tens of thousands … This is a mere trifle! But it seems so only at first glance. In fact, 223 genes are more than two-thirds of the difference between humans and chimpanzees.

Was it possible that such a colossal superiority of man over other species was obtained thanks to the "courtesy" of infecting bacteria?

Fortunately, not everyone thinks so.

“This is a leap that does not fit modern evolutionary theories,” said Stephen Scherer, director of the Center for Mapping the Human Genome at Baylor College of Medicine.

"We have not found a clear source of bacteria for the alleged horizontal gene transfer," noted the report of geneticists, published in the journal Nature.

And then, why such confidence that it is we who "got" genes from bacteria? Or maybe they are from us?

"It is not clear whether the genes were transferred from bacteria to humans or from person to bacteria," Sines writes, quoting Robert Waterson, co-director of the Center's Washington Group for Decoding the Human Genome.

But if a person gave these genes to bacteria, where did he get them from? A vicious circle, and nothing more.

And then the ufologist Zachariya Sitchin, known since 1976 for his books about the Planet Nibiru, the Sumerian alien gods and the paleocontacts of aliens with people, suggested his own way out of this circle. In April 2001, the Cosmivers publication of ufologists published his article The Case of Adam's Alien Genes.

In it, the researcher claims that man in his current form was created by genetic engineering. And as he believes, there is a mass of evidence. For example, in the Old Testament there are echoes of the version about the visit of the Earth by ancient astronauts, whom people took for space gods.

The description of the creation of man by gods in the myths of various cultures is very similar.

Moreover, the most ancient of such testimonies are not even biblical legends about the origin of Adam. In the Bible, according to Sitchin, only a retelling of much more ancient Sumerian and Akkadian texts is given, which were once written on clay tablets. And in them the role of the transformer in the genesis of man is assigned to the Anunnaki - those who "came from heaven to earth."

It was after this article that Sitchin gained immense popularity, and his books about Nibiru and the Anunnaki began to sell like hotcakes.

According to Sitchin, the Anunnaki arrived on Earth about 450 thousand years ago from the planet Nibiru (aka Marduk). Its elongated orbit is such that it is observed from Earth only once every 3600 years.

Once in search of minerals, the Anunnaki landed on Earth. When they needed manpower to conduct exploration work, one of the leaders of the expedition, a scientist named Enki, proposed to slightly improve the hominid (erectus man) that existed on Earth at that time, adding some genes of the "more advanced" Annunaki.

According to Sitchin, this was done with the help of Ninharsag, the chief physician of the Anunnaki.

After some trial and error, a more or less suitable model was finally obtained. The rest had to be discarded. By the way, here is an explanation for why paleontologists now find several predecessors of modern man at once. It becomes clear where the unique 223 genes came from - they are from the Anunnaki, and not from bacteria.

By the way, according to Mesopotamian sources, as a fan of Sitchin's ideas, the English ufologist-researcher Alan F. Elfard, notes in his book "Gods of the New Millennium", the first man was created precisely as a slave. And it is no coincidence that its first name in the Sumerian texts - lu-lu - is translated as "slave", "worker", "servant". And all these "servants of God" (as, by the way, they are named in the Bible) were to serve the heavenly rulers.

Moreover, the slaves in the course of the work, it seems, more than once "reshaped". So gradually their lifespan was reduced from thousands and then hundreds of years to the present. So it is no coincidence that the Bible contains memories of the wise men who lived for many hundreds of years.

The shortening of the life span occurred, perhaps, because people began to reproduce too actively. In addition, it is easier to teach young people new things than older people, and each next generation is qualitatively better than the previous one.

However, at first, people were simply cloned. This is also directly stated in the Bible. Only our common progenitor was made, of course, not from Adam's rib, but from his DNA. This was done by rearranging the 23rd pair of chromosomes, removing the Y chromosome from the male. This is how the XX chromosome appeared in the female.

This genetic surgery is described in another ancient source - the Babylonian myth "Atrahasis". Today it is read as a kind of instruction for cloning the first people: "… seven were born masculine, seven were feminine … They were created in pairs."

Since then, people have acquired the ability to reproduce their own kind. And the three sons of Noah, born at the same time, but three different women, were genetically programmed as the ancestors of three races. That is why we all - white, black, yellow - have the same genetic code, although we have been adapted for life in different terrestrial conditions (hot tropics, permafrost, etc.), Elfard believes.

For what, ask? So that the cosmic "gods" themselves do not do the dirty work. Or, perhaps, so that in the future we can serve as genetic raw material for the next stages of hybridization, which, apparently, is happening now.

We ourselves appeared as hybrids 300 thousand years ago, and even now we are being used to create new hybrids. Perhaps it's time to add another 223 genes or 332 for us. You look, we'll become smarter, stop killing each other and ruining our own planet.
