Who knows how the psychology of the depths affects people, in which, according to the stories of the diggers, you can really find a lot of the mysterious and incomprehensible.
Diggers are people who, studying the dungeons, along the way create these legends, create their own philosophy, their own world, acting according to laws different from ours. The leader and founder of the Digger movement, Vadim Mikhailov, gave this largely ambiguous and contradictory, but interesting interview.
- I was 12 years old when we - a group of boys from our house - went down to the basement as deep as we had never gone before, and … ended up in a dark corridor with shelves stretching endlessly far away. There were strange vessels on the shelves; As it turned out later, the basement housed the remainder of the warehouse of the Institute of Oceanology, which had not been completely removed, and the vessels contained the most diverse formalized creatures from the ocean depths.
As if spellbound, we walked through this cabinet of curiosities, looking at the freaks in the banks, and then, engulfed in a common impulse, swore right there, by the light of newspaper torches, the scraps of which were burning down in our hands, that we would definitely create (since no one thought to do this before us) an expedition that will undertake to explore the underground slums of civilization, find incomprehensible creatures, perhaps observe the life of ghosts …
Then we did not think about the hundred-meter mines - three meters was already a huge depth for us. Then we did not suspect that we were only swarming over the gigantic space of Moscow's underground structures.
At that time we did not call ourselves diggers - the terminology came later, but the essence does not change from this. In general, to dig in English is to dig. We also "dig", but in a broader sense of the word: we investigate, we climb into places where no human has walked for a long time.
Of course, we also have our own stories, which you, people of the superficial (both literally and figuratively) world, consider legends. Let it be so, although I claim that I saw many underground secrets with my own eyes, and these notorious rats too.

Too much, too much has been written about rats. About 6 years ago, a journalist friend of mine wrote a story (science fiction) about giant rats in the subway and thus managed to anticipate the events that happened much later and by no means in the subway. Now his story (fiction) is often confused with our story about real events, and thus a fantastic mishmash is obtained in which rats are almost monsters. What actually happened?
The first time we met rats was completely unexpected - in the tunnels under the zoo. There were about 5 copies of them, and we saved ourselves by throwing crowbars in their direction and, without waiting, whether they wanted to chase us or not, quickly retreated.
During 19 years of our descent into the ground, we have never met such large animals! Then they seemed to me just huge, although later, recalling the details, I determined that they reached no more than 65 centimeters in length (excluding the tail) and 25-30 centimeters at the withers: the size of an average fox terrier. At first we even thought that we were facing nutria, but. then we looked more closely: no, after all, a rat! In any case, the proportions are all rats, except that at the withers the mutants are a little more narrowed and do not have such a rounded rear … By the way, one of the creatures, in my opinion, was a female - it was distinguished by more miniature proportions and a pale color …
Having got out from under the ground, we sounded all the bells: they summoned riot police, television, called the mayor's office. However, the tunnels were blocked only 4 days after the incident, and of course the rats will not wait for the journalists for so long. This later gave rise to the television men who came down with us to accuse us of lying, although I affirm: there are rats! They walked through the tunnels leading to the zoo, the White House and further to the American embassy …
However, a few days later anonymous informants called our headquarters and, calling themselves former military, told this. It turns out that they are supposedly well aware of the former bunkers of the defense complex located within Moscow, in any case, they described in detail all the entrances and approaches there. So, next to these abandoned structures are the radioactive sedimentation tanks of city reactors, where all the devilry happens.
According to the informants, they once went down there out of curiosity and saw whole flocks of these giant rats, hundreds, thousands! Their description in detail coincided with what we saw with our own eyes. Well, now there is only one thing left - to check the information, which we will do in the near future, when we are well armed. I would be glad if this sensation turned out to be just a fiction - otherwise, from these creatures mutating on radiation, we are in danger of a danger the size of which is difficult to imagine. By the way, if we are already talking about mutants, we cannot fail to mention the so-called biomass that originates in the depths …
Some argue that ghosts are sometimes found in dungeons. Indeed, underground mysticism is common. Take, for example, "glitches", "sliders", "bags" - these are all different types of ghostly, ephemeral, phantom-like formations of the ufological series. Some of them resemble small UFOs - these stars suddenly appear from the darkness and, flying as close as possible, pull their tentacles to people. It seems as if they are feeding with their energy. "Underground adrenaline" - as we call them. And also, it happens that you are walking through a tunnel - and suddenly you see the light from a flashlight ahead. How so? Where from? Who else could have gone so deep? It turns out that no one could: you come closer - the "flashlight" goes out and - silence. There is nobody. Scary, of course.
Sometimes we also find some kabbalistic signs on the walls of old tunnels - who inscribed them and, most importantly, why, is also not very clear.
We observe these various phenomena quite often - in the last year alone, at least 30 times we have come across something similar. We even saw ghostly substantial phenomena when they passed just under the old cemetery. There really appeared ephemeral creatures that looked like ghosts. They stretched out their hands to us, and then "fell" into the floor or under the water.
In general, I think so: moral misunderstanding between people and social strata, anger, hatred - all this accumulates in one way or another underground. After all, the underworld is the caves of darkness, the very hell in the flesh, into which we descend. We carry light there (at least - the light of our torches) and must know how to protect ourselves from, relatively speaking, demons of evil. By the way, at the same time we are convinced that something diabolical really exists - this is not our fantasy and not fiction. For example, we realized that Evil can be influenced. So, all the diggers saw the strongest breakers in the water all the time while the holy prayer was being read in the underground. After the prayer, the water "calmed down" again … Again, when the darkness is illuminated by candles from the church, strange phenomena also often occur. Let's say the same "stars" begin to behave strangely. They are of a wide variety of colors: brown,orange, red - fly up to this candle and burn out instantly!
And also underground there are so-called "hohriki" - such small creatures. You may not even be aware of the presence of the "hohrik", and then you develop the film and see: something hairy, small, curly sitting on your shoulder. Of course, maybe this is some kind of optical deception (although I don't understand how you can deceive the film), but personally I think that these creatures are real and their own cities and dwellings are located underground. We can say that in our sewers and pipes - the kingdom of gnomes, werewolves, ghosts …
In general, the so-called mysticism cannot be dismissed by the diggers in any way, because it often helps in our work. After all, Troy of Homeric, in the end, was excavated precisely following the legend. So it was with us, when, believing at first glance unlikely stories, we got to the bottom of the tomb of the White Nun. What it is? I'll tell you further.
The Nikolo-Vyshsky monastery is located near Ryazan. More precisely, it used to be called a monastery, and under Soviet rule, a pioneer camp was located on its territory. There is a beautiful and ominous legend on this score: they say that the abbess of the monastery cursed him during Kalinin's time, after which she, along with several other nuns, voluntarily immured herself in the abbess's house. They also say that it was from this time that strange phenomena began on the territory of the pioneer camp monastery. Like, before the storms underground, as if a bell begins to ring and the singing of women who have immured themselves is heard muffledly. And then she appears - the White Nun - a transparent, 2-3 meters high ghost …
And here she is - on the way from the former church to the tomb where she was walled up, to the house of the abbess.
This phenomenon was observed quite rarely and only at night, but many saw it. We ourselves, when we arrived at the camp to investigate, saw the ghost three times.
Of course, the easiest way was to immediately dismiss these ghost stories - as if there were enough of their own affairs. But we took the story about the Nun as a working hypothesis and as a result managed to unearth an underground passage that really led from the monastery to the very house, now buried underground. And this move took place under the alley where the ghost walked!
By the way, when the passage was finally immured and all that remained was, having broken through the masonry, to penetrate into the burial place, all mysticism also began: the lights go out, the movie camera stopped by itself. And at that moment the bricks themselves (!) Flew from the inside, from the burial! Such a powerful energy has accumulated in this place for decades that the scout Sergei Stukaev, who was the first to climb into the gap formed, lost consciousness for a few seconds (we pulled him out by the legs) …
