No casualties were reported; a number of buildings were destroyed by a powerful blow.
The original version in connection with the cataclysm was expressed by the Mayor of Ankara Melih Gokcek. According to him, the earthquake could have been artificially provoked.
Not far from the shores of Canakkale, there was a ship engaged in seismic surveys, the mayor wrote on Twitter. He called to find out what it studied and which country it belongs to. Gokcek noted that he considers it necessary to keep under control all large ships and submarines in the area of Istanbul, Canakkale and the Sea of Marmara.
The mayor also shared links to videos telling about the ideas of the scientist Nikola Tesla. Users were offered a video about seismic weapons and the American project HAARP ("Program for the study of aurora high-frequency exposure"), according to "Vesti".
In Canakkale on Monday morning after the first earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3, several dozen aftershocks with a magnitude of up to 4.3 were recorded. 5 people were injured, cattle died en masse on farms.
