James Whiting from Somerset County (England), cutting a slab of limestone bought a few years ago, found a glass bottle inside which he found documents hidden inside.

Inside the bottle was a sheaf of papers, among which was a newspaper dated June 4, 1880, and a sheaf of documents concerning the Methodist Church, including a report on the Wesleyan Methodist meeting.

The mason was surprised how, at that time, the one who laid the message in the limestone slab could make a niche in it. Now there are tools with which it is easy to do this, but then it would take enormous efforts to cut a secret niche in the slab. In those days, only hand drills and steel chisels were tools.

The origin of the slab is unknown, where exactly it was found no data. The slab was purchased from a construction contractor, and the material itself is from Jurassic limestone and was previously mined in Ham Hill, Somerset. This limestone has been used for hundreds of years for the construction of various buildings, including medieval churches.
