The message was sent to the American ufological site MUFON. Date May 19, 1988. Scene near Sugar Grove, Illinois.
“My friend and I were fishing that day in an old flooded stone quarry surrounded by cornfields. small sparse groves and shrubs. It was evening and the sun had just gone down. We were inside the quarry, and behind us was a stone wall about 40 feet (12 meters) high, behind the wall at a distance of 15-20 yards (13-18 meters) a line of bushes began.
We sat at the very edge of the water and silently watched the floats on the fishing rods. And suddenly a very loud roar (howl) was heard from that side (wall). So loud that we immediately jumped to our feet and began to look around. Then it howled loudly again and I could make out its silhouette. It was a creature with a large head, on which large eyes stood out.
In the twilight, it was difficult to see him and I turned on the flashlight and shone the light on the creature. First of all, I saw his eyes, very large, greenish-orange oval eyes. Then the creature howled again and I saw the big teeth of a predator in its mouth.
After that, the creature quickly moved towards the trees and it moved so fast that we could not understand how it was moving. Then it howled loudly again. It roared in a way that no living creature on the planet screams or roars, much less any animal in Illinois. I memorized this sound so well that I can try to sample it now. It sounded very creepy.
The creature was at the very beginning about 10 yards (9 meters) from us and later, after moving, 50 yards (45 meters). His eyes were like those of a large reptile.
The next day in the evening, I returned to this quarry with my friend again on a fishing trip, but we also wanted to find traces of that animal. We found nothing, nothing at all, no traces, not even branches he had broken. We shrugged our shoulders and went fishing.
We were there for about an hour when it started to get dark. We packed up our gear and went to my jeep when suddenly both stopped and froze when they saw something. A strange ship hovered over the cornfield, at about the level of the treetops. It shone with several lights and one large beam of a searchlight came out of it, which in an instant stared at us.
