The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN is not to be envied. He has to spend most of his working time with people living in the cloud cuckoo land. I haven’t read Aristophanes for a long time and I don’t remember whether birds rule there wisely, but Vitaly Ivanovich is undoubtedly owed compensation for harm.

Before he had time to explain to the historian Grzegorz Schetyna why the former Voronezh and then Bryansk front began to be called the First Ukrainian Front, he had to react to the speeches of US Permanent Representative Samantha Power, UN Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights Ivan Shimonovich and Lithuanian Permanent Representative Raymonda Murmokaite:

- Mr. Chairman, the previous three speakers used fifty shades of black in their speeches. We would like to call on them for greater objectivity, which is necessary in the interests of resolving the conflict, although we understand that in this case these calls are useless.

Churkin had to demand that Western countries in the Security Council stop shielding terrorists who have repeatedly used chemical weapons in Syria and Iraq. So how is it? Have you stopped?

Regarding the sabotage of the investigation into the destruction of the Malaysian Boeing, the Russian permanent representative accused his Western colleagues of "defiant cynicism."

About the humanitarian disaster in the South-East of Ukraine: “There are about four million people in the war zone. More than 200 thousand of them were left without drinking water. A critical sanitary and epidemiological situation has developed in Lugansk. Electricity is not supplied to residential buildings, there is no water supply, because of shelling, water is not disinfected."

Regular readers of my blog will remember that many months ago I urged to stock up on personal water purification systems. It doesn't matter: the representative of Ukraine did not notice not only the catastrophe, but even the crisis: "There is no humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, as our Russian colleagues continue to portray it."

Vitaly Churkin on the settlement of the conflict:

Promotional video:

- They make a lot of noise, but they don't want to do anything to resolve the situation. The work in the OSCE is difficult. In the UN Security Council, the Russian delegation three times proposed to seriously engage in the development of a resolution that would help stop the violence in Ukraine. Western colleagues reacted with defiant cynicism.

For little things, the same picture. In connection with the article by the correspondent of Le Monde at the UN in New York Marie Burro on the relationship between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations, Churkin noted: "This material is remarkable in that it consists almost exclusively of lies and disinformation."

In other cases, our permanent representative mentioned "unfounded insinuations", but the regular repetition of complaints about "provocative cynicism" speaks of a crisis in the genre: Vitaly Churkin is an anachronism. He brilliantly represents classical diplomacy in the theater of the absurd, which has long since developed into postmodernism.

In modern public diplomacy and in the media, if a certain material is “remarkable in that it consists almost exclusively of lies and disinformation”, then its remarkableness is defined by the word “almost”. Texts made entirely of lies and misinformation have become the norm.

The last little news from the media world is connected with these considerations. The American television channel Fox News recruited former "SEAL" Rob O'Neill, who said in an exclusive interview with the television channel that he shot Osama bin Laden. Now this Baron Munchausen will work there as a military expert.

“Rob O'Neill is an American hero who has dedicated his life to serving our country and protecting our freedoms. This is a rare case when a person with such experience in leadership work and experience in participating in combat units becomes an employee of a TV channel. His military knowledge will be a major contribution to the television network and we are honored to have him work for us,”said Fox News Channel President Roger Ayles, former media consultant to Presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. …

The bin Laden family are old business partners of the Bushes and Cheney. Osama bin Laden was promoted as part of the CIA operation against the contingent of Soviet troops in Afghanistan, but the Bushs lured billions of dollars from this family and threw them safely.

Of the participants in the PR campaign in Abbottabad, in which the democratic administration of Barack Obama was also smeared, Rob O'Neill remained one of the few survivors. Most of the "seals" died, some in a helicopter crash, some in suicide.

After the monetary misunderstandings between bin Ladens and Bush began, my friends and some foreign relatives did a little business with bin Ladens, mainly through Tawfiq - and I remember very well the circumstances of the event in Abbottabad.

More than a day before the episode, in which the American hero Rob O'Neill “killed” Osama bin Laden in front of President Obama and his comrades, who was watching this on TV, his family doctor contacted my friends to ask him how to escape.

According to him, the patient died of acute kidney failure, the guards left Abbottabad and headed for the tribal zone, and the doctor feared for his fate. We knew about the diagnosis before, and my husband was just purchasing and organizing the delivery of a compact dialysis machine.

Local authorities have already contacted the family of the deceased in Saudi Arabia and Yemen and were in talks to transport the body for burial at home. But the atmosphere of mourning in the house was broken by a touring troupe of stray "cats" with Rob O'Neill. Here is his line:

“Bin Laden was standing there … At that moment I thought how thin he was, how thick and short his beard was - all in one moment. He was wearing one of those very white hats, but his head was practically shaved off”…

At that moment I shot him with two shots in the forehead. Bang! Bang! A second shot followed as he fell. It fell to the floor in front of the bed and I fired again. Bang! … He was dead. Didn't move. His tongue fell out. I watched as he took his last breaths, but reflexively."

At one time, I described the circumstances of this theatrical performance and recall some of them only in connection with the personnel decision of Fox News. One can only sympathize with Vitaly Churkin: in a world where a scrupulously accurate report on what is happening is considered a "conspiracy theory" and the conspirators have a monopoly on truth, any call to common sense is doomed to remain the voice of one crying in the desert.

And now, in connection with the above, let me say a few words about conspiracy theory. For several months now, professional circles have been discussing topical texts that have appeared on Islamist websites, the analysis of which indicates the authorship of Osama bin Laden.

I can imagine a scenario in which Osama bribed someone from the ISI to fake his own death. But whether he died of acute renal failure or according to the plan for burial in his homeland the body of another person was prepared, the American Baron Munchausen shot someone's corpse. But the news on Fox News is now even funnier. Like Rob O'Neill: “Bang! Bang! Very cute.

In order not to attract real conspiracy theorists to the site, I have long refrained from reporting on 9/11. I don’t deal with history at all, but in the last month, the background of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 turned from an old story into an event influencing current politics. The following material is about this.
