The hope to get on the trail of the aircraft, on board of which there were 13 people, was given by radio amateur Valentin Degtyarev from Nizhny Tagil. He claimed to have intercepted a radio signal for help. The man also indicated the plane's landing site, which was allegedly in the area of the "October Revolution" collective farm.
However, the Investigative Committee stated that when examining the audio recordings of the signal provided by the radio amateur, legible words and phrases were missing. On September 9, the media published information about a 42-year-old radio amateur from Nizhny Tagil receiving a radio signal, possibly from the passengers of the missing An-2. A doctor by profession, entrepreneur Valentin Degterev caught a strange radio signal on his mobile. "Help, we have two wounded … The bears will devour us … Everything is empty … without cartridges." He heard messages with this text on the air, turning on the radio in his cell phone on the night of September 4 and 5.
An unknown man said that they were either in an abandoned settlement - either a forest cordon, or a former camp zone, or a “dead” village, or near an airplane. The person names the coordinates (not all), speaks about the distance of about 30 km to their location from the place (pioneer camp, settlement, state farm), in the name of which there is the word "revolution".
The radio amateur suggested that it could be an abandoned camp point. He calculated that the signal came from a point south of the village of Gari, where there are three abandoned villages - Chanovo, Ust-Lozva and Pervomaika. From 1931 to 1950 they were part of the collective farm named after the October Revolution. He also calculated the specific coordinates - 59 ° 2'22.21 ″ N 62 ° 22'11.69 ″ E. It is exactly 120 kilometers from Serov, as stated in the radio message.
Indeed, until the 50s of the last century, the "October Revolution" collective farm existed in the Garinsky GO.

The content of the messages recorded by Valentin was checked by investigators. The examination was carried out by experts of the ECC of the Transport Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Ural Federal District. When examining sound files, it was found that there is no intelligible speech signal, both at the word and phrase levels.
But the Tagil dweller does not trust local specialists. As Valentin Degterev told Uralinformburo, he sent the audio file for examination to a foreign organization that is professionally engaged in transcribing sound recordings, including black boxes after plane crashes. An acquaintance of his who emigrated abroad works in this company. The examination will be done free of charge. “I need it to prove my case - it's about my reputation,” he said.
Degterev has already complained to the prosecutor's office and law enforcement officers about slander by the journalists of the TAU television agency, who called him mentally ill. He also invited the director of "TAU" Innokenty Sheremet to the meeting. The ineffectiveness of searches and expertise seems suspicious to Valentin Degterev. He was told that at the beginning of September, helicopters and a transport Il-76 were seen in the area of the alleged emergency landing of the An-2, which could theoretically cover the tracks of the maize.
