Ghosts, ghosts, spirits - all this is fiction, or do paranormal creatures still "live" among us? And if, nevertheless, they live in our world, can you see them? In various articles, you can read about how people came into contact with ghosts. But is there any evidence that spirits actually exist?

What else, no matter how a photograph of a ghost, can serve as confirmation that ghosts exist? It is no secret that specialists studying paranormal phenomena have photos and videos available, which show contact with the spirit world. But is this evidence really genuine?

Let's plunge into history. In 1822, chemist Joseph Nips was able to obtain images of objects on specially processed glass. Thus, he invented photography, and after improving the process, cameras came into the world. 40 years later, this discovery brought fame to amateur photographer William Mammler, who became the first person to take a photo with a ghost.

12 years before William Mammler took his historic photograph, his cousin Sarah Mummler passed away. In 1862, William decided to take his self-portrait. Imagine his surprise when he saw in the photograph next to him the barely noticeable figure of a short woman in a white dress, similar to his deceased cousin! Many experts have studied this picture, in the end, it was recognized as genuine.

Over the next decades, spirits and ghosts were captured in photographs more than once, but not all cards were recognized as authentic. And it is these "controversial" images that are being studied to this day, and cause many questions from scientists and fans of riddles.

The London Museum of Spiritualism and Phantomology contains photographs from seances conducted by the famous physicist and psychologist William Crookes. These photographs show the stages of the process of incarnating the summoned ghost and communicating with him. During the materialization of the spirit, in addition to William Crookes and the spiriologist, there were numerous witnesses, including photographers, who took these pictures.

It is very rare for a photographer to notice the phantom he is photographing. Much more often, the mysterious figures in the photo come as a complete surprise to those who take photos. As, for example, for Timotti Upper from London, who in 1977 decided to photograph his new Bentley. Imagine his surprise when, in the developed photograph, driving his car, a man saw the translucent figure of a stranger! According to Timotti, he managed to capture the ghost of a man who was hit by a car in the very spot where his Bentley was.
