The pandemic claimed the lives of more than two million people (1957-1958). The "Hong Kong" flu appeared in 1968. The virus has killed about a million people. The first bird flu virus was registered in 1997 in Hong Kong. Experts note that every third sick person dies. The virus is transmitted to humans from poultry, mainly chickens, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda.
"Bird" and "swine" flu is especially dangerous for the elderly. Children and adolescents tolerate the disease more easily due to the resistance of immunity to external influences of a destructive nature. Scientists are busy developing a vaccine.
