"UFO nests" or "UFO nests" Australian journalists called strange round bald spots in the grass, which in the 60s began to be noticed in the swampy area of Queensland. They were strange round spots of dried reeds surrounded by green plants.
Let's say right away that this phenomenon should be distinguished from the more well-known phenomenon of "crop circles". Plants in crop circles, as a rule, are not torn out and practically not damaged, but only gently crushed and / or twisted, and plants in "UFO nests" are often uprooted, yellowed and wilted.
The massive UFO invasion in Queensland allegedly began back in 1945, but the most striking sightings took place already in the 1960s. The first widely publicized observation was made on May 23, 1965, by the owner of a hotel in Eaton Range, Mr. Jim Teals, near the town of McKie.
He saw a small round luminous object sink briefly right in front of the hotel, leaving numerous footprints for the police on the grass and tree tops.
A year later, rumors of mysterious reed patches reached Sydney, and Sydney Sun Herald reporter Ben Devi urgently left for Queensland. He found five perfectly regular circles about thirty feet in diameter in the swamps there. The yellow, completely withered reeds were tumbled down on them, partially uprooted and neatly stacked clockwise.
Ben Devi suggested linking the "swamp circles" with UFO flights observed in Queensland during the very days when these strange brown spots appeared among the green reeds. And not without reason.
Here is a message from Queesland native, banana picker Georg Podley - quite typical of his kind. On the morning of January 19, 1966, he was driving a tractor along a country road near a swamp when he heard a loud hiss, "like the sound of air coming out of a tire."

In the next instant, he saw a "flying saucer" rapidly rising from the swamp. A few seconds later, the "plate" disappeared into the blue of heaven. “She was moving at a terrifying speed,” said the banana picker.
When the UFO disappeared from sight, an intrigued eyewitness to the incident stopped his tractor and rushed into the reeds - he saw a "circle in the swamp" in which the reeds were tumbled clockwise.
The famous American ufologist Jacques Vallee in his book "Passport to Magonia" describes a similar circle that appeared near the town of Delroy, Ohio, USA, after a series of mysterious "explosions in the air" on June 20, 1965. It was, in Valle's words, “a round formation on earth. The ears of wheat seemed to have been torn out of the ground, like a reed uprooted in Queensland."
A week earlier, on a farm in Wiltshire, after the landing of a UFO, several "circles" with a diameter of eight feet were left at once, partially covering potato and wheat fields.
We saw similar circles in Russia. Here is what a group of students-historians, who worked at an archaeological excavation near the village of Semikarakorsk, Rostov Region, said:
“On July 12, 1984, late in the evening, we saw a large, luminous ball of bluish color float over the hill at the foot of which our camp was spread. In a few seconds it disappeared beyond the horizon … The next morning, when we went to the opposite side of the hill, we found there a clearly delineated circle of lodged grass, which had not been there yesterday.
The size of the circle is a little over three meters. The grass on it looked withered, yellowed. Some of us entered this circle, tore up the wilted grass and examined it. Soon, those who visited there began to have headaches, and nausea rolled up in their throats. Considering this, we did not approach the circle anymore."

An eyewitness A. Svorin from the Irkutsk region writes about the same:
“On August 6, 1981, about five kilometers from the village of Bolshiye Koty, on the shores of Lake Baikal, I was picking mushrooms in the taiga. I went out into a clearing and suddenly I see - in the grass there is a clear two-meter circle of dried vegetation on the vine. This amazing spot in the grass was as perfectly round as if drawn with a compass. The grass in it was torn out along with the roots and scattered chaotically within the circle."
This cup also did not pass the city of Murom, Vladimir region, where in September 1976 "one morning in a meadow located directly outside the city outskirts, a large patch of randomly laid grass appeared."
In 1985, uflog Aleksey Priyma investigated the circumstances of the mysterious death of journalist Viktor Burikov from Rostov-on-Don. According to him, he became seriously ill immediately after contact with the UFO operator. The contact took place in a clearing in a grove on the banks of the Don River, after which the journalist lived for only three months.
The ufologist went to that small grove and soon found the very clearing in it. Exactly where Burikov pointed out, he found two round bald spots in the grass, each about seven meters in diameter. The "dish" landed in that clearing twice: when her crew abducted Burikov for a short time and when they brought him back to the clearing. These two bald spots are the sites of two UFO landings in the clearing.
Burikov's rendezvous with the UFO crew happened in October 1984. The ufologist found himself in that clearing in July 1985. That is, it is quite natural that no dried and drooping grass was found in the zone: the dried grass, if any, was “eaten” by winter.
But on the other hand, the new vegetation was there two times lower than outside the "spots". The grass on the circles gave a strange impression - it looked depressed, stunted. It differed from the surrounding greenery and in color - it was paler. This means that after nine months the zone remained anomalous.
