Gromovishche is a small clearing near the village of Kupishche near the town of Korosten, Zhytomyr region. The abnormal place is famous for the fact that it attracts lightning. A strange area was fenced off with logs in order to warn people from other lands.
It is rumored that from time to time a strange glow appears there, as if a column of light rises from the ground into the sky.
According to local legend, once upon a time there was a manor house of a wealthy but very cruel landowner on this glade. There was no account of the torture and punishment that he subjected his serfs. Heaven endured his antics for a long time, but when the landowner tortured the young, beautiful girl who had not submitted to him, God's wrath overtook him: thunder struck out of a clear sky, the landowner fell dead from a lightning strike of unprecedented power, and his estate flared up and burned down in a matter of moments.
Since then, no one has settled in this place, because every thunderstorm of lightning strikes this clearing, I remind people that evil can destroy everyone.
The proverb says that lightning does not strike twice in the same place. But nature made an obvious exception for Thunderstorm. Neither an accumulation of iron ore, nor a treasure hidden from prying eyes, nor some kind of devilry attracts thunderstorm electricity. In any case, during bad weather it is worth staying away from this unusual glade.
