In the small Indian city of Abaneri (Rajasthan state), there is a mysterious structure called by the locals Chand Baori. In fact, it is an inverted pyramid with a truncated top, while decorated with the luxury of a palace.
Modern scientists cannot give an answer for what purpose this complex structure was created. For some reason, it is today called a stepped well, although it is quite obvious that a pyramidal structure, made the other way around, cannot be a well designed to collect water. After all, it is this version that is proposed as the purpose of the construction of Chand Baori. However, the researchers admit that much simpler methods could be used to collect water from the depths, without resorting to such complex and costly methods.
The mysterious structure may well claim to be the place where the action of a fantastic plot with aliens from parallel worlds unfolds. A means of protection of non-lethal action will not take up much space, and in the mysterious corridors of such ancient structures there may be such surprises that today are considered impossible.
Chand Baori itself is in the shape of a square, and is surrounded by compound terraces with an entrance from the north. On the other sides of the world, each of the tiers has carved rows of steps. North side steps lead to pavilions with many floors. Special niches contain images of the deities of Ganesha and Durga. Frescoes and sculptures, fragments of which have been preserved on the arches of galleries and on the walls, tell about the god Vishnu, as the main patron saint of Chand Baori.
The structure consists of 13 tiers with 3500 stone steps. The mystery of the construction of the grandiose inverted pyramid goes back to the legend that Chand Baori is of supernatural origin and was built by Raja Chand, who was considered a Rajput demon of the Chahman dynasty. This dynasty once ruled the city of Abbha-Nagari around IX BC. What is the story behind this legend and what was the true meaning of the building still remains a mystery.
