An international research and production center for robotics will be created in the Russian Federation, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science said on Monday.

"This is a necessary infrastructure unit for the consolidation of the world's leading scientists and specialists in the field of robotics," said the head of the Ministry of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov, whose words are quoted in the message.

The Minister announced his intention to establish an international research and production center for robotics in the Russian Federation during his working visit to Naberezhnye Chelny. There he visited the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center.

It is planned that on the basis of the Center for Robotics the main competences in this area will be combined: from the development of artificial intelligence systems to the creation of metal compounds and alloys for the manufacture of various elements of robots of a new generation. The main platform for the Center's activities will be NUST MISIS.

According to the press service, among the main participants in the project are Cognitive Technologies, KAMAZ, Tatneft and Soyuz-Agro, which will provide organizational and financial assistance. The project will also receive support from the Ministry of Education and Science.

“About one billion rubles will be allocated from the budgets of the project participants for the development of the Center for 2016-2018,” said Olga Uskova, President of the Cognitive Technologies group of companies.

Among the areas of the Center's work are new areas of robotics: bionics, cognitive technologies, biometrics, nanorobotics and others.

According to Uskova, the creation of such structures is a global trend. Similar projects have been initiated by many leading states. So, according to the International Federation of Robotics, about $ 14.5 billion is allocated annually for the development of this area in the world.
