Life is full of secrets and mysteries. What do we know about the Universe and its stars, our old Earth, which has been studied only to a depth of 12-13 kilometers ?! We have zero factual material for hundreds and thousands of kilometers inland. But even in the near-surface layers of the earth there are minerals, the origin of which geologists are unable to explain. However, no one knows for certain where the world with its good and evil came from. The Bible lifts the veil of secrets, but only from the standpoint of faith, not science.

Desert Gem Forest

Have you ever been to the American state of Arizona? If not, then imagine slightly hilly plains receding towards the horizon. The hot sun burned out almost all the vegetation here. Only cars rushing along the wide freeway remind of life. If you are traveling in a car equipped with an auto-guide, a pleasant female voice will inform passengers that they are in the area of the mineralogical reserve, where it is recommended to stay in order to see firsthand the prehistoric unique forest of America, which has turned over a long geological period of time into luxurious agates and chalcedony of blood red, brownish brown, milky blue, gray and other tones. It seems simply incredible that the forest, a genuine Mesozoic forest that grew here 150 million years ago, did not disappear, did not rot and did not turn to dust, but its once luxurious, the trunks and branches stretching towards the sun have turned into exquisite gems. Even very small cufflinks for a shirt made of light blue sapphirine (a kind of chalcedony), set in gold, now cost 3-4 thousand dollars! A kind guide offers for a small fee to walk a hundred or two meters, so that you can personally admire a small flower garden, where the "queen of flowers" - a rose made of stone, has opened its petals. Indeed, white, blue, red and yellow open buds are like two drops of water similar to real roses, but only they are made of the mineral selenite (a type of gypsum). Such a "rosette", if anyone wants to buy, will cost 12 thousand dollars! There is nothing to be done - the rarest thing, because crystals in this form are found only in the desert, and even then not in every one. How man and mouse became minerals

One English chemist, who hated mice, suddenly became deeply in love with them. And there was a reason. Once engaged in cleaning his laboratory, he found a small mouse in one of the glass retorts, where copper sulfate was stored. As if by magic, the mouse became metallic and sparkled with the silvery edges of some kind of mineral. A case has been reliably recorded when a horse's head made of … iron was found in one of the Ural mines! How can we not remember the Mistress of the Copper Mountain, luring into her stone palaces the Ural masters who loved her.

Whoever from the inhabitants of the Swedish miners' village of Folun would have thought that one day in the light of God they would get the body of a man out of an old abandoned mine, completely transformed into a sparkling gold brass-yellow pyrite (sulfur pyrite) - a mineral widespread in those parts (!). The situation was the same as recorded in the old chronicles: a young miner about 60 years ago went to visit his young lady, but he never showed up at her place, and he never came home. After 60 years, he was found all the same young and beautiful when the boy's bride became an 80-year-old grandmother! An unknown artist of that time depicted on an engraving a miner who became iron, or rather, pyrite.

There is nothing supernatural in the above examples, because geologists have long known the phenomenon when a living being or an object under certain environmental conditions turns into one or another mineral. In this case, the original appearance of an animal or tree is completely preserved, but all its tissues are replaced by minerals of one or another chemical composition. This phenomenon in mineralogy is called pseudomorphism (translated as "false form"). "Roses" made of gypsum or iron are just one of the peculiar forms of crystal growth, but the golden arrows, sometimes clearly visible inside the rock crystal, are one example of the capture of foreign crystals. According to the classical laws of crystallography, the mineral staurolite is formed, as if composed of the smallest Catholic crosses. Many geologists smile skepticallyhaving heard the legend that staurolite is the petrified tears of angels who mourned the death of Jesus Christ on Calvary.

Inexplicable

There are things that are completely incredible. Once in Crimea, the author of these lines happened to see some mysterious creature, similar to a large bumblebee, but buried in a mineral … chalcedony! Everything would be fine if amber was a container for him. But this chalcedony was of magmatic origin. It was found at the beginning of the 20th century in the Crimea on the Kara-Dag by the famous scientist F. Yu. Levinson-Lessing. When the volcanic nodule was sawed, they found it inside a bumblebee! By all laws and concepts, a bumblebee could not fly and even simply exist in liquid magma! Zoologists-paleoentomologists, who examined this rare specimen, came to the conclusion that the insect, although not very well, was preserved. The head, antennae, body, wings were visible. How he managed it is unknown!

Walled up but alive?

A certain F. Barton, a resident of Coventry (England), once managed to observe how a block of stone was rolling down the slope, falling apart. One of the fragments interested Barton in something, and he decided to split it into smaller pieces. Imagine the surprise of the Englishman when a live toad jumped out of the split piece! Burton brought the stone shards and the toad home and showed them to his wife. She, in turn, told about the incident to a friend who was engaged in witchcraft. The woman immediately said that one of the debris brought by her husband was a toad stone that saved people from a fire. Two years later, a fire broke out in Coventry. Many houses were damaged, but Barton's dwelling, although it was in the epicenter of the raging flames, remained unharmed!

In 1899, someone named Charles Dawson brought from the Lewis quarry (Sussex, England) the mineral chalcedony split in half with a perfectly preserved mummy … of a frog inside it! The most striking thing was that this chalcedony was formed from a hot silica-oxygen gel that rose through the cracks in the earth's crust! How the amphibian got there, no one can explain to this day.
