A child with a face so distorted that it resembles a mask lives in China. The photographer who filmed the boy noted that his mouth can stretch up to the middle of his face
In the future, the boy will go through many plastic surgeries. However, his family is so poor that this is not yet discussed. Relatives forced the mother to abandon this child, but she flatly refused.
“The only thing I have to do is give him more love and more care and try my best to teach him to live a normal life,” says mother Zhao Huikang. But at first the doctors were afraid to even show her the newborn, so as not to shock the woman in labor. A Shanghai hospital nevertheless decided to carry out the first operation for the boy for free. During it, part of the bones, muscles and skin of the face will be restored, and doctors are not completely sure of the success of this enterprise. And the specialist who will conduct it claims that the boy will need many surgical interventions as he grows. “Now, because he cannot chew, Zhao also suffers from malnutrition,” laments Dr. Ren Tianping. “Still, after the first operation, he will be able to eat,” he promises.
Such a severe pathology of Zhao Huikang is caused by a rare disease - macrostomy. This developmental anomaly can only be removed by surgery.
