Recently it became known that animals in a certain situation can behave in a special way. But is this behavior inherent in all biological organisms? Scientists from the international group of Europe argue that even single-celled bacteria have their own character.
The object of the study was the bacteria Klebsiella oxytoca. Their behavior is very different from the actions of other living organisms. For example, when a bacteria needs to be fed and enriched resources, then it behaves differently from other animals.
German scientists supplied Klebsiella oxytoca with the least energy-consuming process to describe individual character traits. Under normal conditions, they obtain nitrogen from nitrogen-containing salts. But when the reserves of ammonium run out, bacteria, in order to survive, begin to extract nitrogen from the atmospheric air. This behavior is not classic, since the process is more laborious. But without it, organisms simply would not have survived to replenish nitrogen reserves.
Not so long ago, in studies of multicellular individuals, scientists also concluded that a unique behavioral feature is necessary for the survival of the species.
